Possible Chelsea target Frank Ribery will be a much more expensive nut to crack than first thought – Bayern Munich have quoted a huge £65 million fee as the only way to obtain the players services.

£65 million is still not the £100 million Uli Hoeness recently said that would be required (but then again, who takes anything he says seriously?), nevertheless this current valuation is much higher than potential buying clubs imagined it would be.

The coveted winger was said to be of great interest to Chelsea although The Times now states that Chelsea have yet to make a bid for the player.  Ribery is also reported to have said that he doesn’t like the idea of playing in England due to the weather!

Ribery is certainly on the Real Madrid shopping list but their enormous transaction for Ronaldo may possibly involve Florentino Perez leaving the way clear for Ferguson to bid for the player in a gentleman’s agreement.  If the Ronaldo transfer does go through quickly then Man Utd must be favourites to sign him – should those negotiations become protracted and acrimonious then that might just provide an opportunity for Abramovich to leave Bayern Munich with a fast time-scale ultimatum.

With Malouda´s final improvement in form to what Chelsea fans imagined it would be when we first bought the player and Ashley Cole’s excellent performances, we seem pretty strong on the left although Ribery is definitely on Ancelotti´s wish list.   

Given the circumstances I would say that Zhirkov is more than enough to re-strengthen and improve options on that side – although he has apparently stated he would prefer Barcelona, insinuating that he would be on the bench too often at Stamford Bridge.

£65,000,000 for Frank Ribery is too much, he's a good player, but certaintly not worth more then £59,000,000 rated Kaka who is in my opinion a far better player then Ribery. Hoeness has clearly overrated Ribery, the most i would personally splash out on for him is about £20,000,000-£25,000,000 tops, if that, he really is not worth the £65,000,000 Bayern are asking for, and any team willing to match the asking price would be wasting their money.

BAYERN MUNICH have confirmed Manchester United and Chelsea have made bids for French superstar Franck Ribery.

Playmaker Ribery, 26, has also attracted an offer from Barcelona.

But Bayern chairman chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge insists the German giants have no intention of selling — even if big-spending Real Madrid firm up their interest with a bid.

He said: “We are relaxed and proud that we have one of the best three players in the world under contract.

“Chelsea have lodged a bid, as have Manchester United and Barcelona.

“Real Madrid president Florentino Perez and his advisor Pedro Jimenez asked if we were willing to speak with them over a transfer but we rejected the chance and we have no intention of selling Ribery.

“We are completely relaxed about it. The power lies with Bayern Munich.”

Bayern have repeatedly insisted Ribery is not for sale.

And Rummenigge is adamant the club will not relent and cash in on their prize asset.

He added: “I don’t want to talk about sums of money because it is not in our interest. The amount is irrelevant.

“There is always going to be the perception that Bayern Munich are trying to push the price up and that there is a certain value at which we’ll have to accept.

"But I’ll say it again, we want to keep Ribery.

“A player has to respect his contract, in his case until 2011. He is on holiday now and then we want to have a successful season with Franck next year.”

Doesn´t look good - again:

Migliaccio also revealed Ribery has spoken with former Real hero Zinedine Zidane about moving to Madrid.

'Ribery would prefer to play for Real Madrid than Barcelona,' he told RAC-1.

'The player has talked with Zinedine Zidane and he wants to play for Los Blancos for him.

'But at this moment everything is blocked because the people at Bayern are on
holiday until the end of this month.

'I can't say anything else until we meet them in the next few weeks.'


So no need to sell Bosingwa then...
