Chelsea turned down Manchester City bid for Terry

Manchester City had an enquiry over the purchase of John Terry rebuffed by Chelsea chief executive Peter Kenyon during this January transfer window according to The Times today. The “audacious bid” was made by Garry Cook, Manchester City’s recently in place executive chairman.

The offer is described as “an offer that neither club nor player could refuse” (although obviously it could and was refused!) but Cook was told that Terry is not for sale at any price.

Terry was made aware of the offer but despite the lure of being made the best-paid player in British football (he already is one of the best paid anyway isn’t he?!) our captain prefers to stay as he has other fish to fry.

The Times says that at the age of 28, Terry wants to spend the rest of his career at Stamford Bridge and one day eliminate the bad memory of Moscow last season by bringing “Big Ears” back to London.

I have to say, that to agree to sell Terry – no matter what the fee – would have been almost tantamount to ripping the heart and soul out of the squad.  You just don´t sell the family silver.

Terry will always be remembered as being one kick away from glory or ignominy. We know what he got for the rest of his life. Yes, he's a loser. City were lucky not to sign him; he's a bad omen. His die is cast; Chelsea don't have the money to get back to the 'big ears final', so Terry made another losing move by turning down the move to City, because City will certainly get to and win 'big ears' one day. They have the money and determination to do it; everything else is just hot air.
So Terry, but you are fated for failure. The person who should thank you most is Ronaldo. He would have been known as the big loser if it wasn't for your life-defining miss.
