Boring, Boring Newcastle

Flying High?

Phil Scolari was very generous in his description after yesterday's drab 0-0 draw with the 'Barcodes,' saying that "Newcastle were magnicent by playing for a point." "They came for a point and they got a point." "We came for a win, but didn't get it." For me the point is lost, let's face it Newcastle were actually awful & to be fair & 100% ultra critical Chelsea were 'awful' too.

Joe Kinnear admitted that he had asked Michael Owen to play deeper than he normally would and the stall was set for Chelsea to dominate the possession, have most of the play and the 'Barcodes' kept their fingers crossed that Kinnear's plan would not go pear shaped.

newcastle 3

Ashley Cole stooped into a Bossie cross and the header spun agonisingly past the post. Super Frank saw his close-range header well saved by Shay Given and Ballack could have and should have won the game minutes from time, but he shot wide from close-in.

With Utd and Liverpool both drawing and Woolwich losing, two MORE points dropped at home, was a bad day at the office.

I am not the type to criticise players but Malouda is really starting to irritate me and Kalou is starting to get on my nerves and Scolari 'needs to channel his energies' and be brave and bold.

Malouda has skill, pace and the techincal ability. What is lacking is his final ball into the area. He either underhits his final pass or overhits it. There is no middle ground with this man.

He is so wasteful and over the last few games, Malouda has had more chances to score in any game, than a team gets in ninety minutes overall.

As for Kalou. All I saw was him come on to replace Malouda and I saw him leave the pitch after the final whistle.

newcastle 2

Scolari needs to start using 'the kids' that he has on the bench.

Scott Sinclair spent the best part of twenty minutes warming up during the second-half and he would have been the ideal replacement for Malouda.

Scott has the energy, pace, skill and he can cross a ball and I am sure he would have troubled Newcastle more than Kalou did in the time he was on the pitch.

I have a solution to the transfer window problem.

Get rid of Malouda and Kalou and use the money to buy replacements.

Simple I know, but will it happen?

Why are you bothered if Newcastle are boring? If we are boring then it gave you boat loads of chances to win the game and if you can't break boring Newcastle down or take your chance then I guess thats chelsea's own problem.

Newcastle were ripped off last season with an offside winner, so fairs fair this season. It was a triumph of tactics yesterday and Colo looks like he's finally settling into the English game.

The sooner Abramovich gets bored the better. Lets remember his money is actually a loan to Chelsea. A debt of £500M appearing over night the second he loses interest...? I wouldn't like that!

But then I suppose you'll all go and support someone else... Man City are rich now... What about them? After all... How many Chelsea fans were Chelsea fans before the summer of 2003?

I really can´t understand some of the Newcastle fans above in denial that they were extremely defensive and comparing us to "Mourinho´s Chelsea". If you really believe that you must get down to the opticians pronto. I think Newcastle got the ball into our half 2-3 times max in the 2nd half.

Kinnear had his tactics - and they worked. Makes for boring football? Well yes it does but no doubt he watched a video of the Liverpool game before he came down and felt he could get something out of the match with the same tactics.

Many teams will be coming to the Bridge with the idea of parking the bus but they also run a great risk of getting thrashed if they concede a goal as they then have to change and open up if they want to get anything out of the game.

It´s difficult to apply a great deal of criticism to Chelsea as we did all we could. For me the only negatives were Malouda´s bizarre crossing and not bringing Ballack on earlier.

As for selling Kalou or Malouda I´m convinced one of those will go in January (probably Kalou) ... and yes..we do need that quality wide player in January although I´ve no idea who is available and not CL tied.

What Wisey has done to the toon? Yeah sure - you were superb for years before he came onto the scene weren´t you?!!!

He´s responsible for finding cheap, talent - home or abroad - not running the team so I don´t see why he´s to blame for Keegan leaving. Keegan must have had the set up explained to him before taking the job on surely? If he didn´t- then Mike Ashley is to blame not Wise. In any case, Kinnear´s not doing a bad job is he with Wise there?

As for your Ashley Cole comment that just puts you in with all the other plebian, media fed masses.

You are the one that looks like a complete plank!

When Mourinho accused Spurs of parking the bus it´s because THEY DID? Did you actually see that game?!!! I bet you didn´t?!!!!

Sure, it´s not Spurs´way but the fact is they changed their tactics (just like you did yesterday). More and more teams will do so - some will get away with it - and some will get a pasting if they go behind and have to attack.

I felt sorry for the Newcastle fans they came all that way and were served that garbage by their team. How could Kinnear say that was their best performance,i think owen passed the halfway line once and they had one shot in the whole match and that was off target, and that was their best performance of the season, well if you are gonna serve that football up for the rest of the season then god help you fans.

Well at least there´s ONE who recognises and isn´t ashamed (and why should he be?) of his teams tactics.

As for the money/Abramvoich angle you might want to just pause and THINK. The INVESTMENT that Roman is making in Chelsea will no doubt be converted into equity once the club starts making a profit. He paid 140m for Chelsea - how much do you think its worth now or will be worth in say, 2 seasons time?

As for you accusation of us being fickle that just shows you up for a typical toon fan who NEVER stops harping and bleating on about what great support you have got (it is great at times - but you are very much sing when you are winning aren´t you? I mean, when times are hard you do tend to leave St James deserted).

I went to my first match in the 70´s ans Since 66 went ...(Well, lets see if your brain can engage and work out when he first went?!!). Carefree has been going for donkey´s as well.

Chelsea have a much higher average attendance than Newcastle in a 103 years of history. We are 5th in the table now and were 5th before Abramovich came along.

I know this doesn´t fit into the way you NEED to see the world but unfortunately thats the way it is. so do yourself a favour, LEARN a little bit about football history before you start trotting out the typical Sky, modern media, football propaganda that you have been conditioned with. (I bet you are in your 20´s?)

What a load of rubbish - you couldnt find the net and couldnt get the win.

Your crowd is the quietest I have ever heard - you only cheer when your winning and have nowt to say when you dont.

Just admit the fact that you coudnt win against a bottom of the league team.

Your still gonna win the prem so shut up!

Nobody is arguing that we couldn´t hit the net.

Nobody is arguing that we couldnt beat a bottom of the league side.

What we are arguing about is the dispute by some of your lot that Newcastle parked the bus.

Even the match report on YOUR board backs us up!

of course we aren't disputing the fact that we played defensive football and got what we went there for, an away point agaisnt an expensively assembled chelsea team.

we are discontented at the obviously biased report by labelling our team as "awful", because we played to the gameplan and we did exactly what we went to the bridge to do, to frustrate your 200m pound team and make sure you don't score. if we have done exactly that, how are we awful? on the other hand, if you say that chelsea were awful, well i can't stop you on that winking smiley

Chelsea lose 2 points and Newcastle gain 1 point, that's why Scolari disappointed. what's make it hard to understand ? Compare between 2 team now, No doubt that if Scolari is Newcastle manager he'll do the same. Or Newcastle should entertain Chelsea by let them destroy us as they want ?

All i am saying is how can Kinnear say that that performance was the best you have played so far this season.Owen,Duff,Martins,Butt,we`r playing deeper than their own defenders and at times they we`r standing on the goal line.Anybody can just turn up and stand in the goal mouth for 90 mins and get a point,is that the football that you guys want to see when you travel 400 miles to see a football match. At least have a go and try to earn your points buy trying to score, but to play for a nil nil is pants.

Everybody's on about Newcastle coming to the bridge with the intention of parking the bus. But is that was the intention then why did we have 2 strikers on the pitch for the entire match?
The intention was clearly to be solid in defence but also to try and get at the Chelski defense. Chelski were good enough to limit us to only a couple of forrays into the blue half. I only wish Jonas's pull back for Oba had been a bit better so we could have taken all three points!
