Anelka starts for Chelsea in the Stadio Olimpico confirming Scolari's announcement yesterday. Didier, Scolari says, is only ready for thirty minutes and is on the bench and Ashley Cole is out for up to ten days.
A Chelsea win tonight will give the Blues ten points and certain qualification to the last 16 as winners of the group.
Prior to tonight's action I have been watching Chelsea TV and getting well warmed up watching highlights of Chelsea's previous Champions League games since we entered the competition under the tenure of Gianluca Vialli. Rather than watching Chelsea TV, I know where I want to be. I want to be in Rome for tonight's game, despite all the rain that has been falling on the Italian capital - so much so, as 'Big' Phil has already booked the same hotel that Chelsea are staying in, for next year's Champions League Final - I have booked too! I even suffered the 'bad' results. Barca away L 5-1, the Monaco debacle and the complete disappointment of last season's Final against the Ure of Man U and that game still hurts!!! But what memories to be reminded of - Arsenal and Wayne Bridge away, Barcelona at home, Bayern Munich at home even with the diving Michael Ballack, Liverpool in the semi-finals last season and even the games against MSK when we had to qualify for Champions League competition. Chelsea: Cech, Bosingwa, Alex, Terry (c), Bridge, Mikel, Malouda, Lampard, Deco, Joe Cole, Anelka Subs: Cudicini, Di Santo, Belletti, Ferreira, Drogba, Ivanovic, Kalou
