Who Are You Going to Support?

Euro 2008

Yeah yeah. I know you do not need reminding but hey!! The Euro's kick off Saturday 7th June and England, Scotland, Wales and the Irish (Northern and Republic) are not in the competition. So who are you going to support? I read somewhere that the majority of English fans were going to turn Orange & support the Dutch - then the ungrateful clog wearers said that they didn't want our support!

Me. I am going to become an 'Italian' for the duration along with my other half. My off-spring will be rooting for Germany and Poland or is it Germany and Croatia?

Why would you wanna support a team that knocked England out?

There you go, the logic of the young (well not that young anyway).

Euro 2008

We are going Italian not because Italy are the World Champions but because I got the shirt. Nah kidding - its the country, the culture, the history, food, drink, women (she will say the men), clothes, Rome, Milan, football and Italy's shirts are BLUE.

Chelsea has no fewer than EIGHT players representing the club playing for four different countries - Czech Republic, Portugal, Germany and France and there are no fewer than SEVEN ex-Chelsea players playing for four different countries - France, Italy, Holland and Romania.

Lists for both are below:

CURRENT CHELSEA PLAYERS IN EURO 2008 ACTION

Petr Cech - Czech Republic

Paulo Ferreira - Portugal

Jose Bosingwa - Portugal

Ricardo Carvalho - Portugal

Michael Ballack - Germany

Claude Makelele - France

Florent Malouda - France

Nicolas Anelka - France

EX-CHELSEA PLAYERS IN EURO 2008 ACTION

Lassana Diarra - France

William Gallas - France

Adrian Mutu - Romania

Christian Panucci - Italy

Mario Melchiot - Holland

Khalid Boulahrouz - Holland

Arjen Robben - Holland

Support? Well, I´d describe it as "having a soft spot for" in my case.

Portugal? 3 of our players there.... Hmmmm...trouble is, I can´t bring myself to support anyone ol winker Ronaldo plays for... Still, big Phil may be our next manager?

Germany and France? Always difficult to have a soft spot for them isn´t it?!!! Hope that Ballack does well though.

Italy? Too arrogant and if you´ve ever been in a pub full of Italian supporters the way they shout and scream at the slightest touch on one of their players yet keep their mouths shut when it´s the other way round makes me cringe!

I reckon Croatia for me!

I like their manager Bilic a lot (He´s also one of my top choices for the Chelsea job) - great attitude and he gets paid a pittance (something like 125 grand a year - only recently upped from 45 grand a year). Like their football and they´ve got balls!

Yep! Croatia for me......or maybe Russia? Actually, Ive got a soft spot for Poland as well! ´

I´ll have to get back to you on this one!

for me it'll have to be Romania, just for the Dan Petrescu link and they are in the group of death.

if not them, then any underdog.

Turkish

I would have thought Turkey for you(Sm15)

Of course I will be looking out for all the Chelsea players, hoping they do well and avoid serious injury.

As for Bilic Dixon, can't see that one happening but you never know!!

Nope! Can´t see it happening either....

Looks like it will be Scolari (?) - and he´s a bit of a loose cannon!
