Didier Drogba has announced that he may well stay at Chelsea despite previous statements to the contrary. These latest comments from Drogba may come as a surprise to some but perhaps not to many Chelsea fans who know his temperament well and are very used to his The Clash style "Should I Stay or Should I Go?" shananegans.

Since the strikers 2^nd season at our club he’s talked on various occasions about playing abroad at some point in the future before finishing his career. 

Drogba is considered by some as a bit of a drama queen who needs attention so his previous comments weren’t always taken THAT seriously – a bit of ego massaging would do the trick.

Then came the dramatic departure of the highly influential and charismatic Jose Mourinho who Drogba looked up to immensely. 

Drogba soon made his feelings known by refusing to celebrate his goal away to Valencia and then later by statements to the media – he wanted to go and nothing was going to stop him – and this was confirmed again to the media during his departure to the ACN.

Most of us began to take Drogba more seriously and the club reacted by making the urgent signing of Anelka (although due to the injury situation this signing alone would have been necessary anyway) but also trying to sign an additional forward (possibly Berbatov) as confirmed by Grant.

Anelka´s arrival has had an excellent impact and the Frenchman made it clear that he would give Drogba the benefit of his experience on moving abroad and the negative issues it can bring and try and persuade him to stay.  Anelka has also confirmed that they have spoken regularly on the phone and talked enthusiastically about their impending partnership at the spearhead of the Chelsea attack.

Drogba has now admitted that it is a “fantastic” time to be a Chelsea player and confirmed his commitment to Chelsea.

"I said what I had to say and I think that was understood.”

"The important thing is that my performances on the field have remained the same, or maybe even got better.

"What counts is giving 100 per cent in a Chelsea shirt. Today, working in a good atmosphere with a common goal is fantastic.  

"Winning the UEFA Champions League and Premier League - these are the types of challenges that I love and I am happy."  

These latest comments appear to be a bit ambiguous but certainly hint that he may well end up staying.

Personally, I won’t be surprised at all if he does stay.  The Anelka partnership  could be a factor but certainly the idea of leaving behind a very successful club if certain campaigns go well this season could be a much bigger one.

Still, the club may have other ideas and decide to cover their backs anyway.  None of us want to lose the best striker in the world – but we can´t have this yo-yoing every 5 minutes.  I just hope he concentrates on his football as he has been doing superbly…and keeps his mouth buttoned from now on.

Does he think he is bigger than the club? One moment he is dreaming of partnering etoo up front at the nou camp and now he wants to stay

i would sell that guy now because now you will get a huge transfer fee

Partnering Anelka up front you mean.

NO PLAYER is bigger than the club - and if he wants off and we get our pound of flesh in return then he can go.

Trouble is, Drogba´s is a bit of a drama queen so we don´t take too much stock in what he says sometimes.

Not so sure he was saying he was dreaming of Etoó.

Reporter: Do you think Etoó is a good striker? Would you accept playing alongside him?

What can Drogba say?

As always if a player wants to go let him go - simple!!

This story has been running for ages - wouldon't surprise me in the slightest if Dids who was the biggest actor in his first season...... the best striker in the world last season and continuing on this season has received reports about the adulation given to NA by the fans since his absence at the ACN.

But what a quality goal he scored against Guinea the other day and what a prospect Chelsea has with him teaming up with Anelka, once he gets back.

HAVE YOU EVER SEEN GERRARD WIN THE LEAGUE????

Anelka could be key to Drogba staying - if that partnership works and we do reasonably well this season then he may be loathe to leave it all behind.
