Chelsea Football Club is pleased to announce that goalkeeper Petr Cech has left hospital and has returned home for rest and recuperation.

Petr continues to make excellent progress on his injury and Jose has spoken to Petr even in French and Petr responded in French immediately during their many conversations.

Petr is expected to return to the training ground next week and take on light training during his rehabilitation. With a fracture to the skull, it is standard practice to allow a full three months of healing, and this is the timescale that the medical team at Chelsea Football Club will be working to.

Do not expect Petr to resume full training until the end of January 2007 at the earliest.

Last night Chelsea Football Club issued a statement regarding the events at Reading Football Club ten days ago and the statement reads as follows:

Chelsea Football Club can confirm that we have written letters to the Premier League (FAPL) and the Football Association (FA) regarding a number of observations that arose from the match at Reading on October 14.

As this was a Premier League match, the FAPL is the relevant authority to address the serious and legitimate questions regarding medical procedures that we have following the injuries to Petr Cech and Carlo Cudicini. These have been copied to the FA for their information.

Chelsea FC want to stress that we have not prejudged the outcome of these issues. But we do believe they warrant further investigation, not just in terms of what happened at Reading, but also to prevent the same questions being raised if similar incidents occur in the future.
