Chelsea kick off their road to European glory this evening at Stamford Bridge against German Bundesliga side Werder Bremen who could be without Miroslav Klose, Tortsen Frings and Tim Borowski. Definitely out for the German's is first choice goalkeeper Tim Weise who has an ear infection.

Joe Cole trained at Stamford Bridge last night but is not expected to start. Arjen Robben is still troubled by an ankle problem and is ruled out completely.

We all know how thorough 'The Special One' is but his dossier's on Bremen should have be filled with more information given by ex-Bundesliga players Michael Ballack and Khalid Boulahrouz.

Tonight should be the night that the real Andriy Shevchenko should stand up and come out to play. Although he has scored two goals this season, his sharpness in and around the box is taking time to show, although his overall team play has been good. All yours Andriy!!

Bremen's preparation for tonight has been hampered by the shock defeat at the weekend at the hands of third division side, FK Pirmasens, in a German cup game. But you now what they say about a wounded lion!!

I expect Claude Makelele to return to the starting line-up after being rested on Saturday. I also expect Ashley Cole to make his first start at the expense of the excellent Wayne Bridge and Ferreira to return in place of Boulahrouz who had a good game at the weekend.

Team: Cech, Ferreira, Terry, Carvalho, A Cole, Makelele, Lampard, Essien, Ballack, Drogba, Shevchenko

With no natural width in the side, I expect Cole and Ferreira to supply the width, Essien to help Makelele, Lampard and Ballack to interchange going forward and Drogba and 'The Shev' to get us the goals.

COME ON CHELSEA, THE ROAD TO ATHENS STARTS HERE!
