After Celtic scored and if the truth be known, they didn't look like scoring again, but it took Chelsea right on half-time to equalise. After already having a sighter on goal or two, young Shaun Wright-Phillips picked up the ball just outside the 'Hoops' area, turned and hit a right-foot shot into the bottom of Boruc's right-hand corner of the net.

Shaunie's reward? He was substituted. But it gave the 'Special One' the opportunity to introduce 'The Shev' and Michael Ballack to the Blue crowd and although neither of them scored, they both made their presence felt and neither of them will look out of place when Chelsea's Premiership season kicks off on Sunday 20th August 2006 at home to Man City.

Celtic's 'keeper Boruc kept the 'Hoops' in the game with some fine saves, when Super Frank, Dids, and 'The Shev' himself looked in the mood to run riot. Dids looked powerful and dominated the Celtic defence with his well-known power play, aggression and although he took some knocks, the histrionics of last season looked far, far behind him.

'The Shev' played his part in his second-half forty-five minutes. Full of running in the opposition, switching from left to right and right to left. The Shev will be a nuisance to defenders in the coming season.

For a friendly both teams played their part in an entertaining and enterprising game. Its a shame that only 20,000 people approx witnessed this 'Battle of Britain,' but for £40 per seat when Carling Cup and FA Cup prices have been reduced to £25 plus concessions, its no wonder!!
