Changes were made (as expected). ‘Captain, Leader, Legend, One England Captain’ JT back in his rightful (I suspect he will be back on the bench tomorrow), Torres in for Ba, Benayoun got a start and of the ‘Three Amigos’ only Juan Mata survived the cull. Oh and by the way Fatty, Chelsea is not YOUR club?!? Just don’t send us into Champions League oblivion!! 

Fernando Torres scored two and became joint-top scorer with Juan Mata on eighteen goals.

Yep. Torres has eighteen goals. Not a lot of people know that because they have been too busy slagging off the bloke all season for his general lack of return.

But on Thursday night the bloke was immense.

Not just for his two goals, one in each half, one scored on his bum, sticking his leg out in front of the Kazan defender to poke home and his second a thumping header in the second-half (mask-aid) from a Mata cross, but his all –round play was class.

Thursday night saw the beginnings of the return of Torres of old or was it that the mask has some mystical powers?

Keep the mask, although I suspect under Fatty’s rotation policy, Torres will revert back to keeping the bench warm when Chelsea entertain Sunderland at The Bridge tomorrow.

Victor Moses, also making a rare start, scored Chelsea’s second with a cracking volley from the edge of the area at The Shed End of Stamford Bridge.

A goal I am sure the ‘King of Stamford Bridge’ enjoyed looking down from the heavens.

Kazan scored an important away goal when the ref deemed that JT handled a fiercely struck shot inside the area.

Mr Rocchi from Italy couldn’t get his whistle to his mouth quick enough as he sped towards a bewildered JT brandishing him a yellow card.

Next Friday 12^th April, the U18s are in action as they travel to Anfield to play Liverpool in the 1^st leg semi-final of the FA Youth Cup. There WILL be LIVE updates on the message board.

The 2^nd leg is the following Friday (19^th) as Stamford Bridge.
