A few years ago ‘The Portly One’ described Super Frank as over rated. Yesterday at St Marys, Super Frank became Chelsea’s 2nd equal highest goalscorer with Kerry Dixon on 193 goals and Super Frank needs nine more to equal Bobby Tambling’s record of 202. I said it once, I will say it again. Not bad for a ‘fat’ footballing midfielder.

Some might argue, some might say ‘Why didn’t Lampard let Ba take the penalty for a debut hat-trick?’

Why should he? Super Frank is Chelsea’s penalty taker – always has been and always will be.

Ba has his Chelsea career to become a goal-scoring legend whereas Super Frank is on ‘borrowed’ time to further cement his legendary status within the halls of Cobham and Stamford Bridge.

Super Frank could conceivably leave before the January transfer window closes. He could leave today, tomorrow or next week.

‘The Portly One’ has to give Super Frank every opportunity to get the goals to become Chelsea’s all-time top goalscorer.

There is some light at the end of tunnel however.

Reports overnight suggest that ‘Captain, Leader and Legend’ JT has held a private meeting with Abramovich and from that meeting Chelsea are looking to re-open contract talks with not only Super Frank, but Ashley Cole, who was skipper yesterday, as well.

‘The Portly One’ regained his senses by recalling Cole, Mata, Hazard and Ramires after the debacle of the defeat against QPR. Super Frank was on the bench and David Luiz continued in midfield until he moved back into defence when Super Frank replaced Ivanovic.

The changes didn’t stop Chelsea going behind.

Southampton took the lead through Rodriguez in the 21^st minute.

Ba got his first of two debut goals when he touched in a goal bound Mata shot and then right on half-time Moses scored a farewell ‘I’m off to the ACN’ goal to give Chelsea a 2-1 lead.

Two more goals within fifteen minutes of the start of the second-half from an Ivanovic header and Ba pulled Chelsea clear, paving the way clear for Super Frank to take all the plaudits for his record equalling penalty and Chelsea’s fifth.
