Credit to Portsmouth, credit to their fans. They made a cup-tie at The Bridge yesterday but eventually and ultimately they were worn down and three Chelsea goals in the last seven minutes put Chelsea into the 4th round to play away at either MK Dons or QPR, who, last night surprisingly sacked manager Neil Warnock.

Yet again for the umpteenth time at The Bridge this season, Chelsea huffed and puffed and it took until the start of the second-half before Chelsea took the lead.

Unimpressive and wantaway Florent Malouda must have got his butt kicked at half-time because he came out, worked his way down the left, just got his cross in allowing Mata to crash the ball home to put the Blues 1-0 up.

The game could have been a lot different from a Portsmouth perspective had Kitson done better than scuffing his shot past Cechie boys far post in the opening seconds. JT and Luiz allowed a hopeful high ball to bounce letting Kitson in and you could hear a collective groan amongst the faithful, 'here we go again.'

Again for the umpteenth time, Chelsea were unable to control a response.

This time Luiz was caught in possession, Cech saved with his legs from Futac, JT cleared off the line from a Ward header and finally Cech kept his goal intact saving from Norris.

Play was held up for a few minutes as our 'One England Captain,' JT was treated after colliding with the post during his dramatic clearance.

Despite their lead, Chelsea were unable to press home the advantage until the waste of space Malouda was dragged off to be replaced by Romeu, thus enabling Ramires to steam off and grab two late goals which were ably assisted by Fernando Torres.

Torres may not be scoring goals, but he is steaming up the assists chart, which his overall play and commitment to the team is deserving of.

Right on the stroke on full-time, Super Frank popped up to score Chelsea's 4th which left Pompey's manager, Michael Appleton saying, "At 1-0 down, we got back into the game but that's why Chelsea are where they are, because they have players who are clinical.

"We had a good shape but I was forced into changes that weakened the team. They were able to bring on players with a lot of quality.

"Life can be very difficult against a top team when you have nothing to hang on to."

In the match programme there were only 20 players listed in Portsmouth's match day squad.

We were pretty dire really despite the scoreline.

"Transition" is quite painful isn't it?

Knowing us, we will probably "click" towards the end of the season when it's too late...

Still, I do think AVB is the man though.

We'll get there in the end.
