Where is the Plot?

Being a Chelsea fan for over 40 years stands me in good stead for what I witnessed yesterday at The Bridge. Deja-vu especially in the first-half. Like Fulham, Villa arrived at The Bridge, parked their bus and scored when they had too. It was like. We need a goal chaps. Let's go and get one.

Second-half though was much more of a game.

Whatever McLeish said at half-time changed Villa's performance and attitude knowing with a little more effort they could go on and win the three points.

I doubt McLeish expected Chelsea's defence to be that careless and generous.

The defence was as wide apart as the Atlantic Ocean as Petrov stole through to put Villa 2-1 up and then to add salt into AvB's nasty wounds, a careless pass from Super Frank led to Darren Bent breaking through to wrap up three easy points for the men from Birmingham.

HAS AVB LOST THE PLOT?

Up and until the point that Romeu was substituted just on the hour, the defence looked solid.

Romeu screened and broke up most of Villa's threat and in my opinion he was Chelsea's best player by miles, (by the way, Villa's equaliser came from a Ferreira mistake down the right and calamitous mistakes in the middle, before Ireland steered the ball home from close range.)

Once Romeu was gone, the defence creaked and panic and like the big bad wolf, the house was finally blown down.

Then incredibly in his post match press conference, whilst speaking about Drogba, AvB said, "It is an emotional goal for him and might be his last home appearance before the Africa Cup of Nations. We will try our hardest for him to be available for the Portsmouth game."

Why do we need him?

His recent performances are akin to a knackered old carthorse and with his complaining of wanting a new two year deal - he doesn't deserve the one-year that is currently laying on the table!!!

Drogba scored his 150th goal for Chelsea, appropriately at The Shed End, where the King of Stamford Bridge's ashes are interred beneath the penalty spot and had Guzan not dived so high, Drogba could still be on 149 goals.

I simply wonder what, Ossie, looking down from high, makes of what is going on?!?

For me, nothing surprises me anymore.
