Finally after what seems an eternity since Chelsea kicked off their pre-season five weeks ago, the serious business of regaining the Premiership title gets underway at The Britannia at lunchtime when The Blues take on Stoke City and 25,000 plus 'Delilah's.'

When the fixture list was published back in June, you couldn't have wished for a more difficult start and with the type of football that Stoke play and Delap's long throw, Chelsea could be in for a torrid time defensively as Ivanovic is a major doubt.

David Luiz is out, as is Essien. Sturridge is serving the first of his three match suspension (he will not be available for selection until after the September international break).

New signing Oriel Romeu is still on U20s World Cup duty with Spain in Colombia who play Brazil in the quarter-finals today.

Although terms of a deal with Anderlecht have been agreed, Romelu Lukaku still hasn't signed and is not expected to until next week.

Congratulations to Super Frank who celebrates 10 years at Chelsea this month.

Difficult indeed - and they will be much fitter than us having played the less corrupt cup early rounds.

I am hoping for a win but wouldn't be heartbroken with a draw all considering.

Can't wait to get down the Bridge next weekend for West Brom! Pre-match pint....banter...you can't beat it!
