A simple statement on Spanish Radio last night by Torres' agent said that Fernando Torres 'WILL be a Chelsea player by 11pm on Monday.' The deal thought to be worth £50m and a player, rumoured to be Nicolas Anelka and not Daniel Sturridge will certainly put back Chelsea's attempt to become self-financing by a good few years.

Yesterday lunchtime at Goodison Park, the FA Cup holders and Double Winners were 'lucky' to leave with a replay under their belts.

The result would have been 'daylight' robbery had Ramires (who is improving with every game) firecracker of a shot not hit the base of the post with Tim Howard beaten all ends up.

For me, too many players failed to turn up yesterday. Only Petr Cech, Ramires and Kalou.. yes Kalou, Chelsea's goalscorer left Goodison with their heads held high.

Kalou, a sub and only on the pitch for a few minutes, scored on a Chelsea counter-attack from a cleared corner which originated from a smart Cech save and a last ditch block from Essien, which could have easily saw the holders 2-0 down and out of the Cup.

The first-half was largely a tepid affair with chances at a premium.

In the 2nd half, Everton moved up a gear and kept Chelsea at bay and Chelsea to be fair, failed to respond until the introduction of Kalou.

Cech saved brilliantly at the end from a Beckford volley.

Everton took the lead when Saha (the thorn in Chelsea's side) scored with a powerful header from a Baines corner.

Everton: Howard, Neville (c), Heitinga, Distin, Baines, Coleman, Rodwell (Beckford 85), Arteta, Bilyaletdinov, Fellaini, Saha

Goal: Saha 61


Chelsea: Cech, Bosingwa, Ivanovic, Terry (c), Cole, Essien, Ramires, Lampard (Mikel 84), Anelka, Drogba, Malouda (Kalou 69)

Goal: Kalou 74

Well if they get Anelka, with Suarez AND 50M they would have done nicely out of it - it could have been a lot worse. IF it happens of course....and it might well do...Why keep hold of a player that doesn't want to be there?

I don't think it will be 50M + Anelka though (although initial reports will be greatly exaggerated if he does sign). More like 35-40M + Nic.

Had to work so listened to the match on 5 Live. sounded like a pretty dire match with us reverting to our poor passing, lacklustre game.

Good old Kalou though! He still continues to confound us doesn't he?!

Torres - if he does sign I doubt he'll be allowed to play against them for us - if he scored the winner imagine the fall-out in scouseland?!!!

Got a ticket for that one as well - if any of you two fancy a pint before the game - Earls Court, Lille Road area?
