Yesterday may have been mission accomplished, but no way is the 'blip' over. The tide may well start to turn after Saturday's home game against Blackburn, where Chelsea look to steady the Premier League ship. Chelsea started their defence of the FA Cup in emphatic style and are now one step closer to winning the famous trophy, 3 years in succession. 

The 'kids' - van Aanholt, McEachran and as expected Danny Sturridge - all started and Sturridge continued his goalscoring form (Five against Tottenham on Thursday for the reserves) with a wonderful double - a cheeky flick in the first-half and a lovely curling shot from the edge of the area in the second.

For the first thirty minutes or so, Ipswich with all their troubles and backed by a noisy crowd, held their own and had kept Cech busy on a couple of occasions, namely one fierce strike from Conor Wickham.

Two goals in two minutes broke Ipswich's resistance. First Kalou pounced on an Anelka shot that had been parried by Fulop as it was trickling towards the line, then Sturridge cleverly flicked in from close range a Bosingwa cross.

Chelsea's third came from the head of Carlos Edwards as he diverted a Super Frank free-kick into the top corner minutes from half-time.

Minutes into the second-half, Anelka got his rewards with a low strike and Sturridge scored his 2nd of the afternoon with a sweet curling shot.

Then it was Super Frank's turn to get in on the act with two goals in two minutes. His first was a trademark strike from the edge of the area and his 2nd, a minute later sliding in at the far post converting a low cross from Ivanovic.

Ipswich's Fulop, who conceded seven on his last visit to the Bridge last season with Sunderland, denied Chelsea more goals in the dying minutes as he saved from Anelka (twice) and substitute Gael Kakuta.

A lot of Chelsea fans had been wondering pre-match if Josh McEachran would get a start in midfield. He did and he didn't let us down.

He was assured, twinkle-toed (the ball was like a magnet to his boot) and when he lost possession he battled and tackled back and he even had a hand (or foot) in Super Frank's 2nd goal, involving all of the qualities above.

Josh even proved that he could shoot. An explosive effort was goalbound, before deflecting off for a corner.

There is no doubt that Josh McEachran is a superstar in the making.

Our fingers are crossed for Josh to have a long and successful career at Stamford Bridge.

Chelsea are away to Everton in the 4th Round on the weekend 29th/30th January.

McEachran is in the making. He should already been called up for the England squad.

This result is just what we needed.

Ancelotti has already said that Josh won't start v Blackburn....some say it's the wrong match for him against a physical side...I wonder though.

I think it will be a definite non-starter. He will be in the Youth Cup team on Thursday at Sunderland (if the game goes ahead. Postponed twice already)

If the game does go ahead, there will be LIVE updates from 7pm and the game is live on Chelsea TV.
