Chelsea 1-1 Everton: Time to Get Worried?!?!

Answers?!?!?

December 5 2010

With the upcoming fixtures against Tottenham, Man Utd, Arsenal and Bolton (Yes Bolton) on the horizon, Chelsea's December started as miserably as November finished. Everton, our nemesis at the Bridge gained a deserved point, a comeback after their home trouncing by the Baggies last week at Goodison Park.

With John Terry back at the heart of the defence and Michael Essien returning in the midfield, you could be forgiven before the start of the game that Chelsea would get back to winning ways and although it took to nearly half-time for Chelsea to take the lead, expectation was high that the Matthew Harding End would witness one or two more goals.

For the umpteenth time this season, Chelsea were guilty of missing chance after chance, the goals from the start of the season have dried up and something needs to be sorted on to get that ball bouncing back into the net.

I don't know whether the confidence in front of goal has dried up or that Chelsea have been 'found out' and teams know to pack out their areas when Chelsea are attacking. The topic is a big question and Chelsea need to provide answers sooner rather than later, or we could find ourselves slipping down the table faster than a sledge on a snowy, slippery hill.

Another major concern is the way Everton came back into the game in the second-half producing wave after wave of attacks and how Chelsea let Baines skip past three Blue shirts, before producing a wonderful cross for Cahill  to head back for Beckford to head home a deserved equaliser.

Thought we were very good in the first half. Terry surpised me in how fit and in form he was after coming back from injury. From the Shed End, Drogba was very alert and showed some nice touches.

You´re right though - we should have sealed it in the first half and we were pretty much robbed of playing against 10 men by the ref who baffled us all by not sending Howard off.

2nd half we were poor and lacklustre - Everton took advantage and played well.

Despite getting Essien back he looked SOOO languid - hopefully he´ll get fitter v Marseille and play much better at the Lane next weekend. Malouda was also disappointing but why has Ancelotti got him playing so deep? For me, there was the problem - a below par Malouda and Essien.

We should be better v Spurs...although I´m not looking forward to it.

Actually, having seen the replay of the pen incident I can see why the ref only gave the yellow. Defender was running in to cover.
