A BIT LATE INNIT

Talk about a late afternoon/early evening decision. Hull have had ALL day to call off Saturday's game, but just as I had finished the 'brilliant' preview below, it has been announced that the game is OFF. Yes the game is OFF and this despite Hull telling the major sport outlets like Radio 5 and SSN that the game will be ON. Bet Chelsea are none too pleased if they are already in their hotel.

As I write this, Saturday's clash with Hull City is ON despite major concerns of the areas outside the KC Stadium; Approaches to the stadium, roads and pavements being suitable for both sets of fans to travel on either by car, coach or shank's pony.

The pitch itself is in excellent condition and is snow free, unless the weather is unkind tonight and in the early hours of Saturday morning.

The KC has never lost a football match to adverse weather conditions. After this weeks bad weather, there is always a first time.

Last season Chelsea travelled to the KC and won 3-0. The goal of the night was Super Frank's delicious chip from the corner of the box and Malouda finally converted one of half-a- dozen chances presented to him back in October.

That night was a cold night, heaven knows what the temperature will be on Saturday.

Boss 'Anco' reported that there are no fresh injury worries and he was delighted to announce that Nicolas Anelka is back after missing the last four matches and will be in the starting line-up.

'Anco' said, "Anelka is a very important player for us, he showed he can play with Drogba and without Drogba. He played the first games in the Champions League without Drogba and did very well. For us it's very important to have him in this period."

With Dids, Obi, Essien and Kalou on ACN duty, Chelsea play their first Premiership match without the African boys, which leads to the question who will 'hold' the midfield, if 'Anco' continues with the Diamond formation.

In one paper I read today it is reported that Serbian International Nemanja Matic, signed in the Summer from MFK Kosice could be the man for the job.

Sporting Director Frank Arnesen said, "With his old club he was a box-to-box midfielder, but Carlo sees he can play the holding position."

Matic is as tall as a house and has good control and is skillful on the ball and despite his gangly gait he is a very difficult player to shrug off the ball.

Hull will be without Jimmy Bullard, Daniel Cousin and Seyi Olofinjana. Dean Marney is a doubt, Paul McShane is likely to be fit after missing Hull's last three games.

It is very late notice....the problem is the "sue" americanised culture that now exists in this country - authroities, clubs etc are scared that if someone slips on an icy surface and pulls a back or breaks an arm, then they will have to pay out. There is also the traffic problem if road conditions don´t improve.

Is it good news in a way for us though? One less match Drogba and co will miss? Or will the match be re-arranged for before they come back from the ACN anyway (if the ACN proceeds given this shooting incident)?

You´re right though - good preview! :-)

its all about safety which is fair enough. atm goonervilles game is still on against Everton and earlier today Whinger was calling for this weekend's premiership programme to be cancelled in 'fairness' to the league.

Bet their game goes ahead tomorrow and if they win i bet he wont continue moaning - their game in hand

According to reports, Togo will pull out after their bus driver was killed in the shooting and three of their players were injured.

WTF was the competition being held in Angola in the first place - disgusting, disgraceful.

Not the celeverest of venues. No doubt they were trying to regenerate and civilise the area - give people hope - unfortunately it´s backfired.

Re health and Safety in this country I can´t help feeling we have now gone over the top - a nanny state. And we used be "so hard" didn´t we?!
