On the way up to the Bridge yesterday afternoon, I said to Since88 'I fancy a 4-0 this afternoon.' Well we got five and returned to the top of the Premiership in convincing style. After Coley missed a header in the opening seconds from a Super Frank cross, the thought of one of those days did cross my mind. Five goals and 90 minutes later, all was right with the world.

5.30pm is such a surreal time to kick-off. It blows all sense of proportion out the window and you get home much later than you originally thought you would.

Chelsea's single goal half-time lead was courtesy of a Givet own goal and a couple of good Robinson saves.

Seventeen minutes into the second-half four more goals rattled in at the Matthew Harding End - two from Super Frank (no goals in 10 games and then 3 come in the space of three days), a piledriver from Essien and a flicked header from Didier.

Blackburn didn't test Chelsea's maligned defence as much as was expected. Chelsea dealt with ease what Blackburn threw at them.

Cech was commanding. His only lapse came in the first half when he flapped at a cross, punching the ball into the ground which was eventually cleared.

Boss 'Anco' was in the dugout after returning from visiting his sick father and he was gushing in his praise for the performance, especially for the returning Joe Cole.

He said, "I was impressed by Joe Cole, I know he works very hard and is a great professional. After eight months it is not easy to play how Joe played today.

"I am happy for him and also happy for us because Joe is a great player. He is fantastic in midfield, he is a genius and he played very well.

"After the defeat against Aston Villa we had a good solution to set plays because we have a strong defence.

"We also scored four goals in the last game. This is important, it shows we improved very quickly and well. We played very well in our other game.

"And I also liked this game very much because we played very well. It has a pleasure to see this team play today."

Next up is the first of two games in quick succession against Bolton at The Bridge on Wednesday night in the Carling Cup.

Superb performance wasn´t it?

At one point it was like shooting fish in a barrel. I think we needed that though - and the good news is that we stay top.
