Wigan Preview: Almost At Full Strength

COME ON CHELSEA

Chelsea travel to the DW Stadium (hasn't quite got the same ring as the JJB I suppose, but thats the credit crunch for you) with an almost full squad - the exceptions being Deco, who could be available either for Appoel next Wednesday or Liverpool next Sunday, and Alex who is out for at least another two weeks after returning from a groin operation in Brazil.

Chelsea's allocation has been sold out despite no 'freebie' transport being laid on by the club, and Wigan being a small town in Manchester and a Rugby town to boot, will Wigan sell-out too?

Well they claim they are the 'Latics,' but we really know 'The Real Latics' are a few miles down the road at Boundary Park!

The good news is that Didier has trained and has travelled.

Didier put in a full shift on Thursday and again before the team travelled. Sam Hutchinson didn't train, but travelled.

It is expected that Yuri Zhirkov will start on the bench.

Speaking of the up and coming clash and the returning players, 'Anco' said, "I am very happy for Joe because after eight months it is not easy to play the way he played against QPR. He shows very good condition.

"Yuri had a different problem but he played a good 60 minutes and now he is in quite good condition. He is a very dynamic player so he has to improve but he is now 70 per cent of his top physical condition.

"Didier is completely rested and then trained very well on Thursday and he is right to play tomorrow.

"Sam Hutchinson is doing very well and not only in the match. He had a lot of problems last year but now he stays well and we have to maintain his condition. He cannot train all the days strongly because after one year with injury it is not easy to return to training - he is a very good young talent and we have a lot of trust in him.

"Wigan like to play football on the ground and they don't use a lot of long balls. It will be a different match because they like to attack and move the ball with short passes. We have respect for this team because they have very good players."

Once again Chelsea re-unite with 'Mr Happy Smiley' Mario Melchiot and for the first time Chelsea can say hello to Scott Sinclair, who is ineligible to play, because of the terms of his season long loan.

LAST SEASON'S RESULTS:

(a) won 1-0 (Deco)
(h) won 2-1 (Terry, Lampard)
