If Man Ure and Liverpool can get away with the late, late, winning goals then why can't we - at least we are scoring goals, unlike the Gooners (smirk, cough LOL LOL LOL). Seriously though Stevie Bruce must have been thinking on the coach back to the northern wastelands of England, how the hell Wigan lost today
Bruce must have been thinking on the same coach even more how the hell Wigan didn't take all three points after a madcap three minutes before the twenty minute mark had been reached.
Firstly Paul Scharner was one-on-one with Cech and Cech tipped his low shot away for a corner, then after Terry was booked for hauling down Zaki, Ashley Cole cleared off the line and then after Cech tipped the rebound shot, Terry cleared off the line via his back to leave the scoreline at 0-0.

All of a sudden the light switched on. First Drogba scorched one over the bar, then Mikel scorched Kirkland's palms and from the resulting corner and play down Chelsea's left, Lampard chipped a cross in, Bramble cleared only to JT who scissor kicked back towards the goal from 18 yards via a deflection off Emerson Boyce.
1-0 to Chelsea and from the moment JT cleared off the line the game Chelsea gained the upper hand.
Alex had a chance, Lampard had a shot saved by Kirkland, Ballack had a header cleared off the line but his effort was ruled offside, Terry went for another but was wide on 40 mins and Drogba hit a free-kick well over.

On 49 minutes Bramble cleared off the line after Drogba had chipped Kirkland but as the game wore on, the nerves were recalling Wigan's last gasp equaliser from last season.
Mancienne played well for his first full League debut and was substituted with about ten minutes to go. On came Quaresma and within seconds of his appearance Wigan had equalised.
Figueroa played a low cross in and Kapo stole in and although Cech got a hand to the ball he was unable to keep the ball out. With Liverpool losing 2-0 at the time, 1-1 was no good.
Think of Stoke, think of Stoke was all I could think of.
So I thought of Stoke. Three minutes were shown as the minimum added time, Belletti crossed the ball into the box, Ballack who did practically nothing all afternoon flicked the ball on and Super Frank was there to head the ball over the outstretched arms of Kirkland.
2-1 Chelsea
2-0 Middlesbrough
2nd place
Happy Days.
