In true typical Chelsea style after dominating possession for the best part of the game and creating chances that should have run up a cricket score, Chelsea fell behind to a sucker punch breakaway goal as Priskin broke clear, suspiciously offside to put the home side 1-0 up.

Cue the master tactician, Ray Wilkins. Off came Mikel,  on went Stoch, 4-4-2 was the new formation and within five minutes, Chelsea were 2-1 up thanks to a brace within a minute from Anelka.

The first was with an overhead kick with his right-foot after an Ivanovic flick-on and his second, a powerful header at the near post.

Comfortable as Chelsea were and lets be honest, Chelsea were deserving of this win, Watford still managed to cause a major scare right at the end, when McAnuff's low shot was brilliantly saved by Cech, who didn't have a lot to do all evening, but when he was called upon, he did his job.

From the resulting clearance, Stoch fed Kalou who twisted and turned inside the Hornet's penalty area, before laying off a pass for Anelka to claim his perfect hat-trick with a left foot shot into the bottom corner.

Hiddink was in attendance sitting alongside Mr A in the directors box looking stone-faced and showing no emotion whereas the opposite could be said about Mr A. He was kicking every ball, scoring every goal and generally looking pleased with his 'mate' sitting beside him.

The question is will Hiddink take us beyond the season or is Hiddink's appointment really really short-term?

Saturday's game was a banana skin of epic proportions with the week that Chelsea Football Club had endured, but the real test starts at Villa Park on Saturday lunchtime, when the Blues travel to play third place Aston Villa.

Chelsea have another free week, whereas Villa play in the UEFA Cup on Wednesday night and after their defeat to Everton in the Cup yesterday, can Villa bounce back?

After all our dominance it all briefly fell into "Here we go again!" when they scored (and again, a referee/linesman decision @#$%& us - it was miles offside) but happily it took us about 2 mins to equalise.

Wasn´t it nice to see us go 4-4-2 after months (actually, make that more than a year) of campaigning for us to at least use it as a plan B?! Full marks to Wilkins for doing so.

But what will Hiddink do re tactics? I am intrigued to say the least to find out.

Hiddink did look a bit miserable - or should that be serious? - whilst Roman was like a little schoolboy twisting and jumping about in his seat!

The highlights for me were:

(1) Anelka´s superb hat-trick (needs to do it against big sides as well though).

(2) Mancienne - a very impressive debut.

(3) Stoch - helped make the difference when he came on.


Would Hiddink stay? Assuming he does well he may well get the bug and want to - we´ll have to see - although he is commited to Russia until the 2010 World Cup.
