Liverpool 2-0 Chelsea: Rule for 1 Rule for Others

Riley You're A ****

By Since66
February 2 2009

.......Especially when you are the home team playing at Anfield. Scouse fans were hoping before yesterday's game that The Kop would be Liverpool's 12th man. Until Torres' opener two minutes from time The Kop were mewing like kittens instead of roaring like Tiger.

Liverpool had their 12th man...... in referee Mike Riley who has to be the worst referee ever to officiate in the Premiership, since the Premiership started almost twenty years ago and we all thought Graham Poll was bad.

He bottled decisions where he needed to be strong, like Gerrard's ball boot in the gut of Bosingwa as early as the 4th minute.

He bottled it when Gerrard almost took JTs head off, he bottled when Gerrard crunched into Kalou and OVER the ball.

Alone

Riley did eventually book Gerrard for an outrageous dive - he had to, simple, but did Riley book Gerrard for the lack of artistic impression? Gerrard wouldn't have won a Gold for that effort at any diving competition.

It was just on the hour mark that the game's most controversial decision came. Lampard and Alonso came to together in the middle of the park. Lampard clearly won the ball, Alonso followed through, raked his studs up Lampard's shin and then rolled about in agony treating us to an Oscar winning performance of someone losing their leg without anaesthetic.

Riley fell for it, out came the red card and Lampard was off. JT protested ao vehmently that he received a yellow card which now means he will miss the FA Cup-tie against Watford in two weeks.

John Terry and Riley

Deep into injury time, Torres got his second and after a wayward slip by Ashley Cole and how Bossie didn't see red after almost decapitating Benayoun, just proves how rubbish Riley and his team were.

No doubt the FA will retrospectively ban Bossie, fine, as long as they rescind Frank's red.

If you thought the performance against Man Utd was rubbish, then I am afraid yesterday's fare was even worse.

Although Chelsea contained the Liverpool threat, it took Chelsea 75 minutes to have their first shot on target which for a title chasing team (forget that now) frankly isn't good enough.

Scolari in his pre-match conferences was sending the right messages when he talked about Didier Drogba starting. Obviously Scolari hadn't done his homework, as in recent years Drogba had led the Liverpool defence a merry dance.

Drogba and Deco appeared twenty-minutes from time, too little to late and Scolari gave Stoch another few minutes to further his footballing education.

Scolari maybe a World Cup winning manager but he isn't a Premiership manager and to blame Riley for costing Chelsea the Premiership title is a bit beyond belief.

Scolari with his lack of motivation and 'laid back' attitude and the relentless pursuit of the 4-3-3 with players that simply CANNOT perform in that system and the lack of conviction to make dramatic changes when things aren't going well, simply Scolari must go.

I have had enough and I know there are many many other Chelsea fans that have had enough too!!

Bring back Avram!!!

I bet Jose is sitting in his plush offices somewhere in the San Siro, laughing into his Chianti.

Have to say mate Gerrard should have been sent off yesterday. There was several instances where he should have seen yellow.

Also the tackle that got fat frank sent off stevie me did an almost identical one a few minutes earlier.

Still think that this was the best result for united tough as the scousers are'nt going to keep this up for the rest of season.

My rage at the blatant favouritism to the scousers is yet to ebb.

Do they need any more help to win their first PL title? Capped off with the usual media love in - even Sky directed their cameras to focus and hold on thier club crest during the final minutes - truly vomit inducing!

What makes me laugh is the Scousers kidding themselves that they deserved the 3 points!

Gerrard, as you say, should have gone in the 3rd minute and we would then have been up against 10 men for the entire match - but no - St Stevie cannot be touched.

Some interesting stats on Xabi Alonso knidly compiled by fellow Chelsea fan:

Six Liverpool opponents have been sent off in the 24 league games played so far (ie 25% of matches).

No Liverpool opponents have been sent of in Cup ties or European matches. No Liverpool player has been dismissed this season.

Details of dismissals as follows.

Player/Time/Card/Referee/Liverpool player fouled

1. Vidic (Man Utd) 90 min. 2nd yellow. Howard Webb. ALONSO.
2. Cahill (Everton) 80 min. Red. Mike Riley.
ALONSO.
3. Zabaleta (Man City) 67 min. Red. Peter Walton.
ALONSO.
4. Valencia (Wigan) 75 min. 2nd yellow. Alan Wiley.
ALONSO
5. Adebayor (Arsenal) 62 min. 2nd yellow. Howard Webb.
ARBELOA
6. Lampard (Chelsea) 60 min. Red. Mike Riley.
ALONSO

If I was Pullis I would be putting in an appeal on Delaps red card - the FA PL would be ffecked if Stoke did that!

They would have to uphold the appeal - if not then they would have to retrospectively give Gerrard a red. To not uphold the appeal would enable every club to allow its players to kick the ball at opposing players lying on the pitch -and point to the Gerrard example as to why it is NOT EVEN a yellow.

No retrospective bans? Remember the witch hunt against Essien that time?

Riley should never ever be allowed to ref our matches again - he was a disgrace to football.

As to Liverpool, well, hopefully Karma will take its course.

Oh ok dixie.

Delap fouled the player aggressivly (probably gettng yellow card for offence) then kicked the ball from very close range (also aggressivly) into him. Resulting in red card, whether we agree or not that he should have gone.

Gerrard didn't commit the foul and then in executing a pass down field, accidentally hit the chav on the floor, from further away than delap and also with his left foot.

I'm really surprised you failed to notice that dixon. Tut tut.

See, no running from me. Maybe in future you'll stay and back up the garbage with facts.

Reds
02/02/2009 22:23
Dixon? Facts? Come on Cap, you know that would be expecting far, far too much. This guy deals in fantasies and nothing else.

Dixie in what way have we been given any more 'help' than any other team? We can all give if's and's and buts to show we've been sadly, badly done to, but why bother, overall the table doesn't lie.

You have been shown up more times than I can remember by myself and quite a few others on this network over the years.

You profess to have so much knowledge yet come up short time and time again - they dont call you miss Google for nothing. To make matters worse, your own response when you get caught out is to delete the threads on your site. There is no point in debating anything with you because of this.

Frankly, you are a waste of my time and a disgrace to this network.

Dixon, move out of your little dream planet for a moment and think about what you've written.

Time and time again you've made accusations and failed miserably to back them up with facts when challenged. You've made a tiiit of yourself so many times with your concocted stories I'm surprised you keep trying.

As for deleted threads, you really need to see someone about your paranoia. The only threads I delete are when plebs like you come on telling lies about both Hillsborough and Heysel, I make no apologies for that.

There is a sticky thread for anyone who wants to comment on either tragedy, the only rule being that you use real facts instead of your own made up 'facts' Opinions and debate are ok, as long as they aren't presented as facts, and are not just abusive internet point scoring.

Other than that I don't ban or delete.

Of course she bloody does!

Shes been doing it for years.

Once there was a big thread on an arguememt she had over Owen with the Geordies - she got right shown up and hey presto! The thread was never seen again and she could offer no explanation. Same again with another thread demonstrating that their spending was comparable to Man Utds, other threads on the history of her club where she c.o.c.ked up - she couldnt handle it so again- the thread went.

Shes very clever though - she leaves it a few weeks and then deletes it hoping that nobody will notice.

Shes done it with me and many others. She is an absolute disgrace to the network - it just isnt worth getting into debates with her. Pathetic.

I missed no points at all. I went through the whole incident as it happened. Just so (or at least I thought), you'd understand it.
The foul alone by Delap was probably getting a yellow and the kicking the ball maybe doubled it to a red. I've not seen the refs report to why he went. Have you?

Gerrard didn't commit the foul and is debatable whether he kicked the ball at the opponent deliberately or not. (I say he didn't, you say he did).

Perry Groves - Feel free to point out which of your comments, or anyone elses, have been deleted, I'll then see if I can help.

Dixon, you're just a plain old liar. No threads at all have been deliberately deleted for reasons other than absolute abuse. If you choose to think that I deleted them because I was 'shown up' so be it, your prerogative.

The only real insult there is that you actually believe deludeds could win anything, let alone a debate on Michael Owen. They have all been proved wrong time and time again just as you have yourself.

I would suggest a 'disgrace to the network' or even just a disgrace, are those people who try to score points by using dead people. But you already know you're a disgrace don't you? Pity you're such a gutless fool who's never had the courage to back any accusations up with real facts. That's the real reason you don't get involved in debates on our board, and you know it.

You have also been told to repost the United spending if you so wish, it's meaningless to us.
