The Return of the Prince

In another crazy day at the top of the Premiership where Liverpool, Man Utd and Arsenal all dropped points, Chelsea with a victory over West Ham this afternoon at Stamford Bridge can return to the summit with a clear one point lead. A Chelsea win will see The Blues move seven points clear of Man Utd - who do play in the Premiership again until Boxing Day and nine points clear of Arsenal.

But first we have to welcome home the legend that is Gianfranco Zola who brings his struggling West Ham side to Stamford Bridge assisted by another Chelsea legend who served The Blues so impeccably, Steve Clarke.

It is going to be a weird feeling knowing that two legends and players both much loved will be sitting in the opposition dugout.

Zola joined Chelsea in 1996, stayed seven years and was voted by the fans, Chelsea’s greatest player ever. Zola made a total of 260 appearances plus 52 substitute appearances and he scored a total of 80 goals.

I don’t ever recall Zola scoring a ‘bad’ goal.

During his eleven year playing career at Chelsea, Clarke made a total of 407 appearances plus 14 substitute appearances and he scored of total of 10 goals.

Iīve no doubt both Clarkey and Zola will get a superb reception from the crowd today. However, after respects have been paid we must then go on to stuff em!

Favourite Clarke moment was the goal he scored up at Goodison which put us top of the league. He ventured forward on the right and scored a diagonal shot which squeezed just inside the near post. Everton fired a flare at us if I remember!

Then Zola...

There are so many itīs difficult. Probably the free-kick against Barcelona during the 3-1 at the Bridge.

As for the match...

I suppose West Ham will defend in numbers but Iīm not sure how good they will be at doing that - we should score a few once we get that difficult first goal.

Drogba isnīt 100% but Iīm sure he will be brought on to go up front with Anelka for the 2nd half.

Should be 1 point ahead of Liverpool today - and it could have been more if the ref wouldnīt have stitched Hull City with the fouls on their players before the Liverpool goals.
