It Is So Disappointing

It is disappointing that the unbeaten League run has come to and end. 86 and out. It is disappointing that Chelsea succumbed to another lucky Liverpool goal, Alonso's shot on ten minutes taking a wicked deflection off the hapless Bossie. It is disappointing that Chelsea had no idea how to overcome a Liverpool 4-6 formation for the best part of 80 minutes, once Liverpool took the lead.
It is disappointing Chelsea had no plan B. It is disappointing that Chelsea DID not create one worthwile chance on target and our only decent chance came in the second-half when Ashley Cole shot wide after being played in from a Di Santo header. Deco, Lampard and Malouda had nowhere to go as Liverpool pressed and pressed the midfield. Kalou and Malouda couldn't get their games together, so it was left for Ashley Cole and Bosingwa to provide the width once Chelsea managed to get the ball wide. Having said that it was a surprise that both Malouda AND Kalou were withdrawn ten minutes into the second-half to be replaced by Di Santo and Belletti. Liverpool had two more chances - a Gerrard shot which Cech tipped over brilliantly and Alonso hit the post from a free-kick. In a game like yesterday's, Chelsea missed the services of Essien, Joe Cole, Michael Ballack and Didier Drogba. There really isn't anymore to be said except that Chelsea will have to pick themselves up, dust themselves down and get ready for another top of the table battle at Hull City on Wednesday night. Being an 'old-time' Chelsea fan, I can take days like yesterday like a duck to water, as I have said many times before, I WAS THERE WHEN WE WERE S**T. Chelsea: Cech, Bosingwa (Sinclair 84), Carvalho, Terry (c), A Cole, Mikel, Kalou (Belletti 57), Deco, Lampard, Malouda (Di Santo 57), Anelka Booked: Malouda 53, A Cole 55, Deco 78 Liverpool: Reina, Arbeloa, Agger, Carragher, Aurelio, Alonso, Mascherano, Riera (Hyypia 89), Gerrard, Kuyt (Lucas 87), Keane (Babel 59) Goal: Alonso 10 Booked: Riera, Gerrard 38, Mascherano 64

despite loving to wind you chels up let me be the first to offer congratulations on such a great record and one that will no doubt stand for many years..
What the same game that Liverpool won 1-0 had two other chances and Chelsea didn't create anything. The same game where Liverpool pressed and pressed didn't give Lampard, Deco or Malouda any space!!!

may be a blessing in disguise. There now wont be the aded pressure on every home game to keep up our record. It may allow us to play with more freedom.
Also franco di santo looks very impressive, looking forward to seeing him start against burnley. Looks a real gem.

can i just say two things please regarding yesterdays deserved win . 1, your manager is a belter , shame hes got to manage for a bunch of fans like chelseas , spoilt unknowledgable plastic flag fliers.2, yeeeeaahhhhhhh get in , loved seein all those woman an children crying in the stands , wwuuuhhhaaaarrr
it very sad that chesea can make us feel pain like that, i watched the game yesterday but until now i still feel angry for the first time of life being humiliated by liverpool and by mistake, by the way that lost will hepl scolari to correct the team for next games, and we need also to have another striker Analka is good but not good enougth when it came to a game like the yesterday one,...

Disappointing indeed!
We had the great majority of the possession and territorial advantage BUT....but that´s worth nothing if you can´t score.
Liverpool´s defensive tactics worked and were fortunate that they came off with the result from a deflected goal - but you make your own luck I suppose.
Still, at least we won´t have everyone in the media going on and on about the record anymore (although now it will change to everytime Liverpool feature "Liverpool, who broke Chelsea´s record...." blah blah blah..!).
Two things re ourselves really stuck out for me:
(1) Without Drogba in certain situations we were toothless. This was a match crying out for him.
(2) Di Santo - at 18 years of age he impressed me by how he wasn´t overawed in the slightest - and actually was more useful than Anelka when he had come on.
Still, Drogba will be back in a week - a few matches to get match sharp. The team, in a strange way, will probably benefit from this result and will be more determined than ever.
One more thought, we are still in control of our own destiny; IF Liverpool don´t fade then a win at Anfield for us would still put us top of the league if things stayed the same until then.

Well it will take Drogba a few games to get match sharp when he gets back anyway....mind you, when he is finally 100% we will probably have the best Chelsea team EVER.

Liked Di Santo´s attitude when he came on.
He needs to get a bit stronger but then again he´s only 18. He´s clever with his feet as well.

I was going to eat some grapes whilst reading that report, but they were equally sour.
"Lucky goal"?? Well took a slight deflection, yes, but how many of fat franks do?

4-4-1-1 actually, but to anyone who doesn't understand football it may look like 4-6.
Apart from our "other two" chances, Kuyt and Masch looked for passes when they should have shot and if the two slick passes from Gerrard weren't slighty over hit then it could have been embarrassing for you's.
As for your lack of chances, that was down to cool defending and a midfield that works just as hard coming back as they do going forward.
The injuries???
Not too much of a mention the other week against Boro was there?
And remember, no Torres or Skrtle either.

There will always be a groundswell of synchophantic media on your side (God knows why! - or probably because WE lost) but it´s one thing going at us on the attack like for example the Mancs would have tried, and it´s another putting 10 or 11 men behind the ball and hitting on the break. Sure, you won but you were hardly the charge of the light brigade were you? So why should you expect us to be praising you to the hilt?
Think on this;
We could have easily adopted the same tactics as yourselves and if we had, you would have seen a totally boring 0-0.

Dixon, the report is sour grapes because it makes it sound like the result only happened due to chelski's bad play rather than us getting tactic's spot on and playing well.
Personally I think too many of you believed all the rubbish after the Boro match, where they were very poor, not you being awesome.
I've hated it in the past when we have even had defenders in midfield to shut out the opposition, but this was very different.
Not only were we keeping you out, but we were looking likely to add to the goal and not by a long punt upfield to a lone striker either. Ffs even Masch our defensive midfield player was clean through on goal in the second half.
Now if we were being ultra defensive, do you think he would have been allowed to do that?
The mancs in your opinion may have gone all out attack, but did they break your record? Don't think so.
Do you go all out attack in Europe at places like Barcelona? Don't think so.
If you feel we put all 11 men behind the ball I suggest you watch it again.

Well for many periods of the game it WAS 4-6-0! I suggest you watch the match again. The only time it changed was when you hit us on the break. It´s not necessarily something to be ashamed off – your tactics worked – but as I said earlier, don´t try and make out you had any intention of taking the game to us – and as I asked you before, do you imagine US coming to Anfield with those tactics?

Well obviously as the urgency to score grew for us we were always likely to be exposed more at the back and be hit on the break – that was the whole idea of Rafa´s tactics!

If you can't be bothered to watch the match again then at least watch MOTD 2.

There wasn't a large group of players staying back as a very defensive side would do. Even Gerrard was further forward than normal.
