His 1st Goal for Chelsea

Big Phil said after the game, "It's impossible to play beautiful football sometimes." When you look carefully at Chelsea's first goal at The Britannia yesterday, the goal was simple in it's execution as the build-up was beautiful to watch. Bossie picked up the ball in City's half and played a short pass to Drogba who in turn switched it out to Lampard on Chelsea's right.

Spotting that Bossie carried on with his run, Lampard delightfully chipped the ball over City's defence for Bossie to control on his chest, before volleying into the net from an extremely tight angle.

Bossie had a hand in Chelsea's 2nd goal fifteen minutes from time. Picking up the ball wide on the right, he crossed and the unfortunate Leon Cort slipped and could only deflect the ball into the path of Anelka who joyfully swept the ball home.

In between Malouda hit the bar with a thunderous shot and Sorensen did well to get a hand to it. Didier hit a rasper in the early minutes and Frank hit a shot into the ground which Sorensen saved easily.

All week Chelsea had tuned their defensive performance for the long throw bombardment of Rory Delap, to the delight of Scolari, Delap had injured his hamstring on Friday and was out of the game.

Scolari continued, "First you must win the game, second if it's possible okay, but it's difficult. We try to play and the other teams sometimes don't try to, only to make you make mistakes. It's not easy in this situation but my team today and against Portsmouth, and I think in eight or nine games I am coach, played with good possession, and covering (each other) well. (There were) little mistakes with wrong passes or shots but the other things are very well."

As for Bossie's contribution Scolari said, "Bosingwa was one player that started as a midfielder. When Porto bought him one coach put him to right-back and he has power, and he can go forward 200 times a game.

"In that time he improved more and was in the national team in Portugal. He is a very good right-back, he has height, can jump well, position well and cover the central defenders well."

Tony Pullis said, "We sat off a little bit but they're are a top team, have players all over the pitch and can hurt you from different areas. It's like defending against the Blue Arrows, they're all over the place, but they didn't turn us over massively."

Kalou came off at half-time with a knock to the ankle and he is a doubt for Wednesday night's game in Romania with Joe Cole a doubt and Deco, Carvalho already out, Chelsea are looking a little bit thin in reserve.
