The Chelsea Football Club official web site has confirmed that we have made a £19.7million bid for the Real Madrid forward Robinho. As far as we can be aware, this is the first time during the long saga and pursuit of the young Brazilian that we have actually made a bid.
Scolari has said that he wants Robinho and the player himself has publicly expressed his wish to come to the Bridge, meanwhile Real Madrid, their fans and manager Schuster insist they want to keep Robinho.
The situation has now become more uncomfortable with the recent injury of Wesley Sneijder during the Emirates Cup tournament.
The amount seems lower than anticipated and the CL player list deadline for the group stage is at thend of the month.
Real Madrid aren’t flush for cash at the moment and know that Chelsea would almost certainly withdraw interest once the CL deadline passes - a January signing isn´t desirable in the least for Chelsea or Real Madrid (Robinho would be worth less).
Expect a hurried poker game over the next few days.
