Impressed With What I Have Seen So Far

Scorer of Chelsea's 2nd

I have watched all three of Chelsea's pre-season games so far and although the opposition hasn't been the strongest Chelsea under Scolari have changed and changed for the better. I have been impressed with the movement of the players, the crisp one touch passing and the instant cohesion of Lampard and Deco in the midfield.

Another positive move by Scolari is both full-backs are bombing forward to support the attack and working hard to get back to defensive duties once an attack breaks down.

Anelka appears to have got over his January move to us and has been outstanding so far. Nic has scored three goals, the best one today where he was fed a through ball from Joe Cole onto his left hand-side, Anelka took control and smashed a left foot shot across the 'keeper into the bottom corner of the net.

Anelka

I think Scolari has played Anelka the way Anelka wants to play and prefers because with the performances he has given so far, Anelka is a completely different player.

Deco should be an instant success in the Premiership and should quickly become a cult hero with the Chelsea fans. He can make a difficult ball look easy and today he proved what a shot he has in his locker.

From a Frank Lampard free-kick on Chelsea's left in the first-half, Lampard sent a cross-field ball to Deco standing 30 yards away from goal, Deco hit the ball first time on the volley and the 'keeper saved spectactuarly.

Malaysia did make for a tougher opponent today. Their squad was made up of players under 23 years of age and this is the squad that will represent Malaysia at the Olympics next month.

Another tough opponent was the pitch. The pitch was in an awful state - lots of bumps and ruts - and yes I know the conditions were the same for both sides, but the pitch wasn't helpful for Chelsea's 'new' style of football.

Chelsea had more scares in this game than they received in the other two games. Malaysia went close with shots on a few occasions and Cech had to rush off his line to save well from a Malaysia break.

Chelsea had to wait until the second-half before finally securing the win. After an interchange of play between Lampard and Malouda, Lampard fed a ball into the area, Ashley Cole controlled and turned and hit a high shot into the roof of the net.

As with the other games, Chelsea made a lot of substitutions and everybody played their part in a 'difficult' win.

Chelsea:

Cech (Cudicini 64), Essien, Carvalho (Alex h-t), Terry (c) (Ivanovic 77), Bridge (A Cole h-t), Deco (Shevchenko 64), Mikel, Lampard (Sinclair 77), Wright-Phillips (Ferreira h-t), Anelka (Di Santo 64), J Cole (Malouda h-t).

Yep! There´s a noticable difference in our style and it will be interesting to see what system Scolari settles on (4-4-2, 4-2-2-2, 4-3-3...).

No Ballack or Drogba so far and Kalou is now missing through olympic duty.

I just hope that when we have everybody fit Big Phil´s not tempted to put Essien at RB.

He could be our strongest link - shame he only lasted 20 odd minutes in the first game - but did u notice Ferreira galloping like a racehorse when he has played so far
