At silly o'clock this morning I posted a thread on our message board that Chelsea's next manager will be Scolari at some point, based on his first interview given prior to the Euro 2008 kick off when Portugal take on Turkey later on this evening. Then you start to think of coincidences and paradox's or even twilight zones when you put together that Mr A is or was in Basel.

According to sources Mr Abramovich was splashing his loads of dough on TWO pieces of Art - worth about £100m plus!!! Nice work if you can get it.

Then in this morning's press and media reports, Scolari 'opens the door' for Chelsea to come and get him but only after Portugal are NO longer in the Euro's, but duh, duh, duh and more duh.

It has already been reported here that Chelsea 'has' tabled a £24m bid for Quaresma who is in the Portuguese Euro squad.

Chelsea already have Ricky, Paulo and Bosingwa who are in the Portuguese squad and Chelsea want Scolari who is....... YEAH the Portuguese National Manager!!!

If you take a look at the Euro 2008 official site, Scolari has announced that Paulo will be his first-choice right-back.

Then you stumble across the following words spoken by Carvalho about Scolari.... then you start to think..... can players be 'accused' of tapping up a 'future' manager?

I doubt it... not if no-one listens in LOL LOL...Oh Elvis take the room..... SUSPICIOUS MINDS!!

Scolari will be Chelsea's next manager... you read it here first!!!

Carvalho said in an interview shown on Chelsea TV, "He (Scolari) is a top manager. He keeps all the players together and he is strong with the players and sometimes we need that."

Are Ricky's words a recommendation to those in charge of Chelsea Football Club?

I say again.

Think about it, Ferreira, Carvalho and Bosingwa - all Chelsea players, working with the national coach that Chelsea want - oh to be a fly on the wall at breakfast, lunch and dinner in the Portuguese hotel and there is Quaresma desperately trying to join in the conversation about a club and potential manager prepared to pay £24m for his services.

It DOES look like Scolari.

I just can´t help wondering if Kenyon and the rest of the suits are still weighing up whether to wait or not though....

BUT then maybe all this no comment from Scolari is just a smoke screen to keep the media frenzy down as much as he can? Maybe the deal is already agreed? Maybe he is telling Kenyon what players he wants already?

..and getting closer:

Out of contract at the end of Euro 2008, Scolari will feel no obligation to remain with Portugal once the man who brought him to Lisbon in 2003 departs. With Madail tied up in the presidential succession, there have been no negotiations over extending his deal for the 2010 World Cup and none are scheduled to take place.

Scolari has, however, allowed representatives to handle approaches from potential future employers. These include Chelsea, who have inquired as to his interest in succeeding Avram Grant as manager. In contrast to his stance ahead of the 2006 World Cup and 2004 Euros, when Scolari refused to enter into formal negotiations before the tournaments concluded, he would be prepared to agree a contract during the competition if necessary.

Chelsea sacked both Avram Grant and assistant Henk ten Cate in the immediate aftermath of a trophyless season, but have asked Steve Clarke to stay on as a senior first-team coach in recognition of the quality of the Scotsman's work during a troubled campaign.

Conscious of their error in replacing Jose Mourinho with an under-qualified manager with no coaching experience outside Israel, Chelsea intend to appoint a candidate of high standing this time. A World Cup winner with Brazil in 2002, Scolari has since taken Portugal to the final of Euro 2004 and the semi-finals of the 2006 World Cup. As a club coach in Brazil he won a succession of major titles including two Copa Libertadores, the South American equivalent of the European Cup.
