Karma To Get Us Through? Liverpool CL Preview

Yet another Champion’s League semi-final against Liverpool (the 3rd in 4 seasons in fact) but this time we at least have the advantage with the 2nd leg taking place at Stamford Bridge. 3rd time lucky for Chelsea? I would hope so – the contrary would surely indicate that it’s just “not to be” against Liverpool in these circumstances and that they hold an indisputable hex sign over us.

Liverpool progressed to this stage of the competition in controversial circumstances against Arsenal who are still smarting from what is generally perceived to be a grave miscarriage of justice.  It wasn’t just one incident that caused emotions to run high and fuel intense debates between the two sets of fans.  Sometimes you just have to take a dodgy decision on the chin but when its 2 or 3 that affect the result then you can understand the wrath emanating from north London.

BAROS KUNG FU

Liverpool do seem to have that bit of luck that is so important in this competition – the dubious sending off which reduced Inter to 10 men so early at Anfield then the controversial refereeing decisions (or non-decisions as the case may be) at the Emirates and later Anfield during this season follows the notorious “Phantom Goal” in the semi-final against us at Anfield in 2005.  We can only hope that their luck doesn’t continue – and even that karma may take its toll and we may well get the benefit of it.

You need a bit of luck and you also need your best players available.

Lampard has not trained since the Wigan game when he left the field during the warm up for that game to rush to his mother’s hospital bedside who is in intensive care with double-pneumonia.  Lampard has travelled so I’d expect him to be in the side.

Ballack has been rested for the last couple of games due to a tweaked hamstring although he insists he is fit to start at Anfield.

Drogba has also travelled after having fluid drained from his knee – the only role our most dangerous striker has played in recent games is in the dugout listening to his ipod selection.  I would imagine he will be on the bench after only doing light training recently.

Essien will definitely not start as he is suspended for this leg, although to be honest, with the current wasteful 4-3-3 formation his absence is slightly reduced in importance.

Benitez has been very coy about the prospect of not having Gerrard available recently rested because of a neck problem –he’ll start though.

Personally, I’m feeling strangely relaxed about these matches.  I don’t feel any of the nerves that I experienced during the last two occasions.  Why’s that then?  Well, I think it’s probably down to a combination of reasons; as I mentioned before, this will be the 3rd crack at the Merseyside club in a CL semi final and I think I’ve used up a lot of my nervous energy during those ties – been there, done it and got the t-shirt – if we don’t beat them this time we just don’t deserve to.

Secondly (and probably more importantly) I’m a bit disillusioned with Grant at Chelsea and the prospect of him being at Chelsea next season – that’s taken “something” out of me.  We are a bit like a rudderless ship only being kept afloat by what’s left of the team spirit in the players themselves.

I think it’s quite astounding that we have pushed a side in Man Utd apparently playing out of this world all the way in the league (and brushed aside the ascendance of Arsenal in the process) and that we are in the semi-final of the CL – it just makes me wonder what we could have achieved this season with a top class Captain of the ship at the helm?

Nevertheless, of course I DO want us to win the semi-final and I actually believe we will go through - although it is with some dread I face the prospect of what Grant will do in the final.

During the next few weeks we can expect more destabilisation campaigns from the media seeing as we are up against two of their favourites in the two most important competitions.

We should be used to this of course, but I’ll admit it’s this type of favouritism to the “Old Guard” of clubs which has generally existed since the advent of the Premier League and Sky which reduces my attitude of almost indifference described earlier and stokes the fires within my heart.

This recently said by a Chelsea fan pretty much sums it up for me:

“So, all in all, we've got in-fighting among the players, a chairman that won't back the manager, players playing out of position, we lost a cup final to our biggest rivals, we got knocked out of the FA Cup to Championship fodder, our 'manager' sinks to new levels of delusion on a daily basis and, to make things worse, next week we go head-to-head with a team who we have never beaten in Europe and who are clear favourites to go through to the Final.

Pack your bags boys; we're going to Moscow.

If there's one thing we've ever been taught from supporting this club; write us off at your absolute peril.

Don't believe in Grant - believe in the players.

Don't believe in Kenyon - believe in Bruges in '95, Vicenza in '98 and Barcelona in 2005.

Don't believe in 'brand Chelsea' - we are Chelsea Football Club, and we will overcome.

It may be blind faith or it may be a sheer unwillingness to stare facts in the face... but I have faith in my club to deliver more and, after Grant is long gone and another man is in place, I will still have the same faith.

It's what keeps us all coming back week in, week out.

We're going to Moscow. Keep the Faith!”

Again to close to call ,we need to keep a clean sheet at home annything else is a bonus.Couple of differances this time round ,1st leg at Anfield although we have disposed of Juve and Barca away 2nd leg. This time Chelsea are not the outright favourites so may be not as much expectation on the players shoulders.Anyway washed me scarf n top, will be well lubricated tomorrow afternoon ,bring it on .

You're clearly not optimistic about beating the 'Pool and I don't blame you. You'll never beat the Mighty Reds in Europe and soon enough you'll be back in the lower reaches of the football league where you belong. No class.

Lower reaches?

And where were you pary tell before Mr Moneybags Moores started ploughing his dough into your club?!!! Some people have short memories or are just too ignorant it would appear.

LOL - I've heard that myth spouted by Chelsea fans before, to try and justify the titles you've bought through Roman's dubious roubles. We won our 1st League title in 1901 and haven't been out of the top flight since 1961-62, long before 'Moneybags Moores' arrived on the scene! Our success was built on the genius of Bill Shankly, and if we did have a few more quid than some others (though still nothing like the gap that exists with Chelski and everyone else now) we earned our money through success, winning fa cups, league cups, league titles & european cups and building a loyal worldwide following in the process. You know you can't reasonably compare the two situations and I'm embarrassed for you that you would even try. Like I said, no class.

Filbert Street - indeed , we may have been rubbing shoulders! Sunny day and we would have beaten (ironically) Liverpool´s points record for the 2nd Division if we had won (or drawn as well?).

Mc Callister scored a perfectly good goal ruled offside that day in our end.

It does get a bit boring when you get the same old comments "History" "Class" tradition" etc etc etc blah blah used as jibes against us - especially when 90% of the lemons making these comments have absolutely no idea what these words mean or know anything about their own history - a trademark of the typical, newbie, Sky educated fan unfortunately, loaded with bitterness about our assurgence into the upper eschelons of football.

Oh dear! Nurse!

So before Moores came into your club in the early 60´s (hepled Shanks get out of the old 2nd) what exactly what was your standing in football? How many cups in europe had you won for example? When was the last time you had won the league?

Dixon before Shanks came only Manu Everton and Arsenal had won more titles.European football was in its infancy ,frowned upon by our own fa .Do believe you raised this Moores thing before ,they were more on the Everton side of things Dixon although as a family were great philantrapists .We were not a wealthy club at the time indeed Shankly threatend to resign on numerous occasions due to lack of funding .Lost out on Dennis Law and Jackie Charlton .Ismell a rat here by the way

Been down this road so many times with Dixon carra and when you ask him to back up what he says (LFC were given 2 million he says) by showing us which players we bought with all of this supposed money he goes missing.

From 1959 to 1984 - 25 years, yes Dixon 25 YEARS - Shanks and Paisley bought and sold players to the tune of 2.2 million net. He also reckons that Shanks ignored local players because of this 2 million he had to spend...

Shanks first title winning 17 man squad contained no less than 9 local players and the dearest player in the whole squad was Ian St John who cost Ł37,000.

To put this in perspective Man City had paid Ł55,000 for Denis Law and the same player was bought by United in 1962 for Ł100,000. A great, great player I know and I'm certainly not decrying his cost, but if, as Dixon has stated on so many occasions, Liverpool had this mythical 2 million how come their record fee was only Ł37,000?

Jimmy Greaves to Tottenham - Ł99,000 in '61 etc....

Take a look Dixon.......all those record breaking transfer fees you accuse us of didn't happen. Yes, we might have broken a few transfer records in certain departments like Emlyn Hughes record fee for a defender.....but overall we don't figure at all until '95 when we signed Collymore.

Moores has been involved with your club pumping his money in WHILST AT EVERTON since the early 60´s. Shankly couldn´t get you out of the 2nd and was on the verge of walking out and then Moores got involved - then you got promoted immediately and the rest is history.

Moores are one of the richest families in Britain and your success from the 60´s up until the early 90´s was built on their cash you plum.

No class eh?

That´s right, before Moores, one of the richest families in Britain, got involved at your club (WHILST CHAIRMAN OF EVERTON!!!) you´d won the league 5 times - that´s 5 times in 90 years of football history (football started around the 1870´s) which is 1 league title every 18 years or so.

AFTER Moores you won it around 14 times in 30 years!!!!!!!

Now, for you or any other Liverpool fan to say that one of the richest familes in Britain´s cash had no bearing on your sucess during those decades is just frankly, STUPID.

You mean I corrected you every time you said we'd had Moores as a chairman for 50 years? You really have no idea which Moores you keep talking about do you? Sir John Moores was chairman of Everton, he was the creator of the Moores billions. Ok? Got that? David Moores was only his nephew and was a Red, like his father, all of his life. The Moores did have shares in Liverpool, like many other business men and I'm still waiting to see which players the mythical 2 million went on.

I may be a joke Dixon but I'm not a liar, and I don't make things up about other clubs just to try and make it look as though my own club aren't the only one to buy trophies.

Wrong yet again, holding shares in a club does not mean you are pumping money in to it you dope.

Shanks threatened to walk out many times over his 13 years at Liverpool, he had no time for chairmen or directors.
It took him 2 seasons to gain promotion after some shrewd moves in the transfer market, the whole 17 man squad costing around 50,000. Now how that equates to your 2 million or even buying a title I don't know. Could you tell us which players were bought with the 2 million? You may know your own clubs history but your mind is completely befuddled about Livepools, you haven't got a clue.

Why is it silly? You said that Liverpool were given 2 million quid to buy themselves trophies, I'm showing you how ludicrous your claims are.
I wasn't comparing anything to nowadays. I am questioning your statement that we were given 2 million quid to spend on players which gained us promotion and started us winning trophies. 2 million quid was 2 million quid then as it is now, and if our record transfer was Ian St John at Ł37,000 where did the other Ł1,963,000 go? Simple question and one that should be easy to answer if what you said was true.

Moores did channel some of his money through Littlewoods pools in the 80´s I think - I remember that the "sponsorship" was worth around 2M - I´ll have to hunt around for it I suppose.

NOW, prove that YOU actually KNOW just how Moores was first connected with your club in the 60´s (NOT the 80´s as you used to think).

You said we'd had Moores as a chairman for 50 years, we didn't. Simple as that.

Now show us where the two million went. This will be good.

So you are now admitting that Shanks wasn't given 2 million? That he found good players in the lower divisions and turned them in to stars? Which is the reason we got promotion and won trophies?

All clubs have sponsorship, what's that got to do with the 2 million you said we were given to get out of the 2nd division and bought us trophies.

Liverpool were well earning enough in the 80's to be able to buy any player they wanted. David Moores took over in 1991 and put in money towards build the Centenary stand, that still isn't buying trophies like Chelsea.

(Sm22) FFS Kate! Littlewoods WAS Moores! It was the family company!

Tell you what, I´ll go one further and say that Moores have ploughed a LOT LOT more than 2 million into your club.

I mean, how can you seriuosly suggest that Moores, one of the richest familes in Britain, had NOTHING to do with your rise from the old 2nd division through to the 90´s when they had been at your club for 50 years. Just look at the difference in honours before and after!

You´ve still to answer my question - you must have had a good old trawl around the net by now surely?

FFS Kate! Littlewoods WAS Moores! It was the family company

I know exactly who Littlewoods are, having worked for them for a few years at one time. I also met Sir John Moores on a number of occasions, so please don't tell me about Littlewoods. You can't even get it together with the fact that there were different factions of the Moores family. They sponsored the FA Cup too, what's your problem with sponsorship? Aren't Chelsea sponsored or something?

Tell you what, I´ll go one further and say that Moores have ploughed a LOT LOT more than 2 million into your club.

You said Moores put 2 million in to Liverpool to help Shanks get out of the second division and win trophies, and not ONCE in all the time you've been saying it have you been able to show one bit of evidence as to which players the money was spent on. You have continually ignored that question, I wonder why. In fact, it's been shown to you time and time again how little Liverpools title winning teams cost under Shanks and Paisley but still you persist with your nonsense.

Chelseas team on the other hand have cost millions and millions and millions, Roman has certainly paid for his trophies. Truth of the matter is Chelsea would never have won the title if they hadn't had a benefactor who was willing not only to put a couple of million in like most chairman, but many, many millions making Chelsea the phoniest club on the planet.

I mean, how can you seriuosly suggest that Moores, one of the richest familes in Britain, had NOTHING to do with your rise from the old 2nd division through to the 90´s when they had been at your club for 50 years. Just look at the difference in honours before and after!

Sir John Moores was a blue through and through and didn't invest in Everton to get a bit of a dividend but actually put enough in for them to have the nickname the millionnaires club throughout the 60's and half of the '70's. Why haven't they won more trophies than Liverpool?
He died in '96 age 93 and still attended Everton games, one of the greatest loves of his life, up until a few years before his death. Are you trying to say that this man poured money in to Liverpool Football Club (even though you can't show us where it went) to win all the major honours and ignored his beloved Everton? You have boxed yourself in to a corner and can't get out of it and we both know it.

Chelsea have won one league title and bought themselves two, like it or lump it.

Are you saying that because you once worked for Littlewoods you have some kind of privileged information? That Moores gave you heads up on what he was doing with Liverpool? What was your position at Littlewoods then?

I said that Moores helped get Shankly out of the 2nd and that his money helped Shankly thereafter – I NEVER said that the 2M was exclusively during Shankley´s time – you are a liar and you know it. I said that at one point Moores had ploughed over 2M into your club (around the late 70´s/early 80´s it would have been). I am also saying that with Moores money you would never have achieved what you did.

Moores was one of the richest families in Britain at the time. Moores started giving you handouts since the 60´s (whilst at Everton – Can you imagine Abramovich giving money to Spurs?!!!) He also bought shares in Liverpool (20-25%). All of this YOU DIDN´T KNOW until I TOLD YOU! You always used to laugh at me for suggesting that Moores had been involved with your club before the 80´s – up until very recently YOU WERE MISSING 20 YEARS OF YOUR HISTORY! You stil don´t know how Moores started ploughing his money into your club from the 60´s – but then how would you seeing as you´d always thought the Moores money didn´t start until the 80´s? How can YOU lecture ME on your history when you don´t even know it yourself?

Whether you like it or not your club would never have had the success they once had if it hadn´t been for Moores – one of the richest families in Britain! Are you really suggesting that Moores had NO AFFECT whatsoever? Are you REALLY trying to say that? Ok, let´s say you are…..So what DID Moores bring to your club if it wasn´t money? I´d love to hear it!

You say that we bought our trophies yet completely ignore the fact that your most successful period in history was propped up by a rich man! HYPOCROSIY of the highest order!

Is it only me that thinks like that? Is it really JUST me that believes your dynasty was funded heavily by Moores? You are really thick if you think so! I think you NEED to believe it is so. There is plenty of stuff I can link up here

You have the gall to go on about Abramovich whilst completely ignoring the fact that Parry was hawking your club round the world for years (You can´t buy history but you can sure as hell sell it eh Kate?!). There you all were hoping and praying for someone rich to come in whilst slating Roman – you got what you deserved in H&G – and now you are praying for DIC to plough funds into your club! Hypocrosiy or what?

Your club is a massive stain on English football – you have cost the English game so much over the years yet you whine on and on and on about “tradition” and “history” and “Trophies” - it really is a joke.

No, it was in answer to you trying to tell me I didn't know who Littlewoods were. My position is nothing at all to do with you.

Your words Dixon
Oh go and do one Mrs Deluded! Moores have been involved with your club for 50 years! Littlewoods Pools gave 2M decades ago....Do you know how much 2M was worth in those days?!!!!

Liverpool have had Moores in their club for 50 years, Moores doesn´t own 51% of the club because he´s a nice bloke and Littlewoods did sponsor Liverpool to the tune of 2M a long time ago (you should realise that Moores made their money from Littlewoods???).

Yor problem seems to be not understanding that the buying of shares is not putting money in to a football club willy nilly like Abramovich. My brother had two shares in Liverpool for which there was an original outlay of Ł8,000 pound. He then sold them back to the club a year ago for 10,000, how is that pouring money in to the club Abramovich style? Your club was a day or two from bankruptcy. He bought a club, which didn't have a pot to piiiss in, expensive players to win trophies. Ergo you bought two titles and a couple of cups.

Liverpool have never been near to bankruptcy, and have always generated a healthy profit. Ergo, anyone buying shares in it was doing so to make a profit eventually. FFS, this is hard work.

Moores was one of the richest families in Britain at the time. Moores started giving you handouts since the 60´s (whilst at Everton – Can you imagine Abramovich giving money to Spurs?!!!) Oh feck, feck, feck....YOU KEPT TELLING ME THAT DAVID MOORES HAD BEEN CHAIRMAN FOR 50 YEARS. THAT WAS WHEN I KEPT TELLING YOU NO HE WASN'T. ARE YOU ON DRUGS OR SOMETHING?
AND STILL YOU HAVEN'T OFFERED ONE PLAYER THAT WAS BOUGHT OUT OF THIS 2 MILLION. NOR TOLD US WHERE IT WENT IF NOT ON PLAYERS.

Sir John Moores love was Everton Football Club, ALL OF HIS LIFE. Are you saying that he'd give Liverpool enough money to win titles and European Cups and not his beloved Everton? Wouldn't have gotten our manager over to Goodison to do as well there? You're a fool.

I don't know one Red who wanted ABRAMOVICH STYLE MONEY TO BUY PLAYERS, most wanted to see the stadium built without it affecting our usual budget for players.

NOPE!

(1) I NEVER said Moores (John) was Chairman of your club in the 60´s - I´ve ALWAYS said that the Moores Clan (family, whatever you like..) have been ploughing money into your club since the 60´s.

(2) How could Moores be Chairman of Liverpool when he was Chairman of Everton? I´m saying that DESPITE being Chairman of Everton, he started helping Liverpool financially.

(3) I´ve always said that Moores have been involved financially with your club for 50 years. Any Moores doesn´t have to be Chairman to provide this financial input - there are ways and means - I´m NOT talking just about shares here! You have no idea what I´m talking about here do you?

(4) You always thought that the Moores family (or John Moores in this particular part) couldn´t have helped Liverpool because he was Chairman of Everton - up until recently YOU DIDN´T EVEN KNOW that John Moores had shares in your club whilst Chairman of Everton. David Moores was Chairman of Liverpool but much later of course - I´m talking about the Everton chairman bankrolling Liverpool in the 60´s!!! You seem to think that that was ok "Why shouldn´t he invest in a business?" was one of your replies once! (presumably because you were shocked that he had done so).

(5) Littlewoods was just one way of funding your club - and obviously this was another way of the Moores money helping your club out - but this didn´t happen in the 60´s!

Look, I´m saying you´re wrong about the Moores clan not funding your club BEFORE David became chairman - they did - and this started when Shankley was desperate to get out if the old 2nd. They´ve been bankrolling your club for years and for you to even try and suggest that one of the richest families (Clan, persons whatever...) had nothing to do with your rise from the 60´s through to the 80´s is just plain STUPID.

Suffice to say my view is you harp on and on about your great tradition and history whilst slating the great puppy torturer Roman Abramovich yet your own clubs rise was funded since the 60´s by a bloke who gained his millions by exploiting the working class with Liitlewoods Pools - he was the only one getting rich by it.

Many of you have even said that you wouldn´t want your club funded by a rich benefactor - you only want "football generated" money - yet your club was funded by a rich benefactor since the 60´s - and recently you were hoping and praying for a rich benefactor and ONCE AGAIN you are doing the same (DIC). 3) If Sir John Moores had so much control of Liverpool why didn't he get Shankly over to Goodison to take his BELOVED team to the top of the pile?

You have continued incessantly with your claims and still have not given us any facts about where the 2 million went, which players we bought with that and not with our own football generated profits. The fact is Kate, YOU´VE ALWAYS SAID that Moores was NEVER involved with your club until David Moores in the 80´s - you are wrong and I suspect you now know it - hence the way you have put the questions above instead of answering mine.

You didn´t even know until I POINTED IT OUT TO YOU some time ago that Moores had shares in your club (approx 25%) whilst Chairman of Everton.

You have all constantly denied that Mancunian born Moores helped Shankley in the 60´s - laughed at the thought - but the fact is you are wrong. Moores has been with your club for 50 years in one form or another with their Littlewoods Pools fortune behind them.

Shankley was desperate to get you out of the old 2nd in the 60´s and Moores, whilst Chairman of Everton, stepped in, using his Littlewoods Pools empire to do so. You don´t have to believe me - take it from one of your own (there are other accounts but what better than from an older Liverpool fan ? Eh?):

"Through the Darkness of Despair"

…On arrival at Anfield he found a run down ground, where the wind rattled through the corrugated roof of all parts of the ground, but worse was to come. The biggest shock came when Bill inspected the training facilities at Melwood.

Nessie recalled Bill saying, “Oh Nessie have I made a terrible mistake leaving Huddersfield ?” He thought that coming to Liverpool was a big mistake because of the conditions at the training ground. The shack that was the changing rooms were worse than that on many parks for Sunday league teams and the pitches were full of bricks, stones and broken glass.

…He approached the board for money to buy a young Jackie Charlton, but was unsuccessful. He approached the board for money to buy the Scottish midfield dynamo Dave MacKay, but was unsuccessful. Shankly had been assured by the board that they were as ambitious as he was to improve the clubs standing, but this was not proving to be true.

…Coming third in the second division was a fate so cruel it often brought tears to the eyes of fans, who wondered how long “The Darkness of Despair” would last. Shankly was already showing signs of desperation, he needed a benefactor who would not run away from signing cheques, they didn’t need to fill them out, Bill could do that, all they had to do was SIGN THEM!

Fortunately for Bill, that time was not that far away. Eric Sawyer an accountant with Littlewood Pools had been nominated by John Moores for a place on the board and if Eric had one skill that Liverpool needed, it was his ability to sign his name. The Liverpool boss could now spend the summer of 1961 looking for the ammunition that would fire Liverpool back to the top league,

So you see, Moores was pumping money into your club since the 60´s – even your own say so….

Shanks was desperate and the club was in a right state – so in comes Moores, whilst Chairman of Everton (!!!) and puts his Littlewoods accountant on the board to sign the cheques!

If that´s enough for you, then there are plenty more. There are older fans and sportswriters who are aware of the Moores money since the 60´s – for example:

At Liverpool the fans are monumentally sentimental, but they know their history and understand that money talks. The Shankly reawakening came only with the help of some Moores' money in the 1960s. Liverpool was one of the few clubs originally formed as a commercial venture.”

So you see, say I´m wrong all you like – but it´s plainly obvious I´m not! And for you to say that one of the richest families in Britain being involved with your club for so long has had no economical effect on your club is obviously VERY STUPID on your part.

I've read all of that many times over the years, stop patting yourself on the back for telling us things we already knew.

I stopped reading your last article when he was sympathetic towards Steve Morgans bid for Liverpool which was so inaccurate nothing the man wrote has any credibility, he doesn't know what he's talking about and has made it up as he's gone along.

Shanks argued about money with every chairman and every director in all of his time there, much as I imagine most managers do, what was so different for Liverpool? I know they got bank loans for many things over the years, then was no different to now.

So, let's try again..........btw, Sir John Moores never owned 25% of Liverpool and I've had that confirmed straight from the horses mouth so to speak, a few hundred pounds worth of shares I've been told, but, supposing you were right. Got that?
I was wrong about Sir John Moores input and you were right, just suppose, now there's the base for you to answer the following questions. Just show us some evidence of Liverpool FC buying trophies plastic Chelsea style. Tell us all about the 2 million you said we'd got and the record breaking transfers you said we'd made.

btw, Sir John Moores never owned 25% of Liverpool and I've had that confirmed straight from the horses mouth so to speak, a few hundred pounds worth of shares I've been told, but, [/b]

You already knew??????????!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You´ve spent years telling me that Moores was never involved with your club in the 60´s and that Moores weren´t involved with your club until David was chairman!!!!!!!!!!!

A few houndred thousand in shares?!!!!!!!! DO YOU REALISE HOW MUCH A "FEW HUNDRED THOUSAND" was back in those days???!!! Moores owned around 25% of Liverpool WHILST he was chairman of Everton!!!!

You are a joke - and even with it right in front of your face you still bleat on and even have the nerve to say "We always knew that..." PATHETIC.

YOU HAVE NO CREDIBILITY NOW Kate - you were wrong - deal with it!

(And Kate, I´m not going to trawl through countless clubs transfer fees and net spending from the 60´s to show you the huge advantage you had with one of the richest families in Britain behind you FFS!).

Dixon NO they certainly didnt .Reds has continually answerd all your questions yet you have failed to answer one .Where your evidence , you have none ,its all made up in your own mind.

And GOTHA again!

"There has never been any dithering on my part, I want to stress that. People know me and they know that if I had the money to afford the stadium – which is the main thing – then I would have done it myself. I wouldn't hold the club back and I wouldn't want to hold it back. It's an emotional time for me because my family has been involved in this club for fifty years."

David Moores

"My FAMILY has been involved with this club for 50 YEARS..."

Now Reds and Carra.....What year we in? It aint 2030 yet is it?!!!!!! Do the sums!

You have both consistantly told me that Moores weren´t involved with your club in the 60´s - you laughed at me for it. Even the info I posted above with links you have said is rubbish (both from a Liverpool site and the Guardian)

.... so now, I ask you......I ask you both....

IS DAVID MOORES HIMSELF LYING AS WELL?

STILL NO ANSWERS, STILL NOT SHOWING US HOW WE WERE AS PLASTIC AS CHELSEA?

#You´ve spent years telling me that Moores was never involved with your club in the 60´s and that Moores weren´t involved with your club until David was chairman!!!!!!!!!!!

No, I spent years telling you that Sir John Moores had no control in Liverpool Football Club. I've also told you continually that having shares in a club means nothing unless it's a controlling stake.

Are you for real? Since when did a few hundred pounds become a few hundred thousand?
No, Sir John Moores never owned 25% of Liverpool, just a few hundred pounds worth, that's all. Unless you know better than the Moores family themselves of course, which you don't. Your 'fact' comes from wiki that has no credibility whatsoever.

You are a joke - and even with it right in front of your face you still bleat on and even have the nerve to say "We always knew that..." PATHETIC

You are the joke Dixon and you know that we all know it. You've failed on numerous occasions now to fact up your accusation that Liverpool bought trophies plastic Chelsea style with 2 million that you say was given to Shanks to get us out of the 2nd and on to buying trophies. It really wouldn't matter whether Sir John Moores was involved or not, it wouldn't matter who gave the 2 million if you can show what the 2 million was spent on. You've failed miserably on that but cling on to the red herring you're using like grim death, never answering one of our questions which have been nothing about the Moores family for a long time.

You've been shown the players, their fees, Shanks and Paisleys net spends but you still cling on to the Moores family because you know as well as we do that Liverpool Football Club built their trophy winning teams through hard work, shrewdness in the transfer market and a belief that Liverpool Foottball Club were the best. We didn't have a sugar Daddy who came along and bought us a few trophies. Shanks built a dynasty that you will never match for either trophies, class or hard work. You just haven't got it.

(And Kate, I´m not going to trawl through countless clubs transfer fees and net spending from the 60´s to show you the huge advantage you had with one of the richest families in Britain behind you FFS!).

You won't because you know your assertions about us buying trophies was completely and utterly wrong and you haven't got the guts to admit it. You're quite happy to trawl the net looking for the Moores family bits and pieces but can't be bothered to trawl for one tiny bit of information that tells you how Liverpool spent 2 million on players to buy titles. Yeah, right.

I'm sure there are some that will agree with your posts on here but most will see you for the complete phoney you are, just like your club. Plastic, no class, shiiity trophy winning history and a fanbase that hardly leaves the south of England let alone the globalisation that sleaze bag Kenyon tells us about.

COMPLETE WASTE OF TIME ARGUING WITH YOU.

You missed 20 odd years of Moores fiancial help in your own clubs history - 20 years!

It´s there in front of your face - from a lifelong fan of your club, Sportswriter from the media (and there´s more) and from David Moores himself! What more do you want?!!!!

You and Carra have consistantly said that Moores had NOTHING to do with your club until the 80´s BUT you STILL want to pretend that you know what you are talking about? You still want to pretend that one of the richest families in Britain had no financial input in your club? That their money didn´t dig you out of a hole in the 60´s? That they were there for 50 years (not nearly 30 as you believed until recently!) and this had no effect whatsoever on your rise to sucess?

IT´s PATHETIC!

Carry on with your delusions - you NEED to believe them which is obvious!

Lets get back to the original point .Dixon you are narked the footballing community claiming Chelsea dont deserve the position its in currently because its been achieved by a Russian billionaire bankrolling the club to success over a short period of time. You can point to other clubs over time who have also spent heavily to stay at the top.The differance is the money from these clubs has by and large been generated by their long term success on the pitch. You are now trying to compare David Moores and his family to Abromavich,Sorry mate there is no comparason what so ever.As i have said to you the other day enjoy your lucky break ,thank the stars he picked you and not Spurs. If it was me in your position id laugh me head off at everyone else ,wouldnt give a flying u know what .Going round the houses digging up 40/50 year old press clippings about LFC is sad .Thats the last im sayin on the subject .May the best team win and if its not us i promise our fans will give the respect you deserve for reaching the European Cup Final .We enyoy our victories but we know how to lose

Actually I´m not narked at all Carra about the Abramovich taunts. If anything narks me it´s the hypocrosiy of these oppo fans who are so ignorant about football history and in many cases, their own clubs history itself.

As you said yourself before, if Abramovich would have taken over Liverpool, you would have been very pleased (and I bet nearly all the fans of other clubs would secretly say the same) YET here we are, Chelsea fans, having to defend ourselves from these very same people! Envy, jealously…whatever you want to call it…..the history and tradition blah blah chants are ridiculous anyway, we have plenty of history and quite a but more success than most of the clubs who have competed in the English league – no – these taunts are just a facade to cover up their own envy.

Like who? If their clubs were run as a business they´d be out of business – they are all in debt! The very fact that they have a debt proves that funds used by these clubs aren´t football generated!

Arsenal apparently make an annual profit – but how much debt are they in? Where did the money come from to pay for the stadium? Did it come from the turnstiles for example? No! It didn´t! It came from Banks and has to be paid back. Now, they will almost certainly pay it back eventually from the revenue they generate (but you could also say the same about Chelsea and Abramovich – let´s see in XXX years time?).

History is so important apparrantly – well ok then; Man Utd were twice saved from liquidation in their history by rich businessman (John Henry Davis and later W Gibson) – does this mean they are a plastic club? Or does the fact that it happened at the beginning of the century and in the 30´s make it not count anymore and now they feature amongst the ranks of clubs forged in blood, sweat and tears and steeped in tradition blah blah blah? Ditto Arsenal. They were saved from liquidation and MOVED away from their original home (the first MK Dons?), they have moved 3 or 4 times now and changed their name 4 times – yet they are “steeped in tradition”!!!

Does this therefore mean that when Chelsea generate a profit and Abramovich finally balances the books and we are winning the league and CL every other season that we then count as well?

I mean take a look at yourselves for a moment; some of you harp on and on about "football generated" income YET there you are, strolling round the streets of Liverpool with Hicks and Gillette in Armani suits and Liverpool scarves on, smiling and shaking hands.... Why? Why did you need them? MONEY! You need their money! Well, why not generate it yourselves? Why is you so great club in need of a handout? Now of course, H&G has all gone pear-shaped and you want DIC in - why? Because they´ve got MORE money than H&G!!!! Come on! You´ve got to laugh!

Comparing Moores to Abramovich? Hmmm….well the only way to do that exactly would be to look at all the spending over the decades and get out a reuters calculator to see what the equivalent values are. However, the fact is Littlewoods was an empire and the Moores family were and are one of the richest families in Britain. The fact is they have been financially behind your club for 50 years – to say that this never benefited you or gave you a substantial competitive advantage for decades over all or most of the clubs in the league at various points in your history is quite franky naďve (see references above from one of your own fans, Guardian journo and Moores himself).

Going round the houses digging up 40/50 year old press clippings about LFC is sad .Thats the last im sayin on the subject . .

Well it´s not really sad, it was more a case of backing up my claim that Moores have been with your club since the 60´s – you, Kate and a few others have laughed at me in the past for saying so – Moores didn´t influence your club until David Moores became Chairman in the 80´s according to you lot – as you all now see – that clearly isn´t the case.
