Finally like a learner driver passing their driving test for the umpteen time Grant got it right. 2-1 against Woolwich which extends our unbeaten Premiership home record to 78 matches - the last team to beat us as you know was Woolwich back in Feb 2004 - Woolwich must be sick at the sight of Didier Drogba.
Like Chelsea fans who were 'sick' at the presence of William Gallas, the backstabbing Woolwich captain who left Chelsea in such acrimonious circumstances two years ago. Prior to yesterday Didier had scored five goals in six games against Woolwich including 'The Knee of Drog,' plus the two in the Carling Cup Final when he battered the Woolwich defence all over the Millenium Stadium and Woolwich went 1-0 up that day too. At Stamford Bridge yesterday afternoon Didier proved once again what an all-round centre-forward he is. Woolwich didn't know how to play him and with the unfortunate double knee bounce in the 25th minute of the first-half, Didier could have well had a hat-trick. A long ball from JT saw Dids break beyond the Woolwich defence, the ball bounced off one knee onto the other and the blonde haired 'lets dive spectactularly for the cameras' Alumunia managed to smother as the ball ran away from Didier. Another chance after his two goal salvo came when 'the blonde haired puesdo hollywood actor' dived smartly to turn a Didier shot round his left-hand post. As for Woolwich's attacking intentions - the so-called 'we play beautiful football team' - Woolwich scored from a corner in the 58th minute after Chelsea left the near post unoccupied and in slipped Sagna for his first goal in Woolwich's colours. At the start of the second-half, Carlo made a smart save from Flamini and prior to that Van Persie slashed one over the bar in the first half and that was it from Woolwich. There was a clear penalty shout denied in the first-half as Kalou was flattened by Eboue in Woolwich's penalty area, but Mark Clattenburg waved play on. Two minutes after Woolwich's goal Ashley Cole had the chance to do a 'backstabber Gallas' but his unmarked header went painfully wide. In the space of twenty minutes and 1-0 down the emotions of Chelsea fans went from despair to deep despair when Grant brought on Anelka and Belletti for Ballack and Makelele and started singing (remembering what happened at Tottingham in midweek) 'You don't know what you're doing,' and 'Jose Mourinho' - Essien was pushed into midfield from right-back - suddenly Chelsea were level. A long ball into Didier who controlled it off his chest, the ball rebounded off a red shirt and Didier pounced to blast it past 'the blonde haired puesdo hollywood one.' Grant got lucky because Drogba's first goal could have easily been given offside, but the second goal nine minutes later, there was no doubt. From a free-kick taken by Belletti, after a handball from Clichy, Anelka backflicked it on and Didier was there again to shoot past 'The blonde-haired puesdo one,' who could only manage to parry the ball in the net. Stumbleupon4 out of the last 5 goals we have conceded at set pieces which isn´t like us so that poorly defended corner and maybe a couple of 5 minute spells in the first half when they had more of the ball were the only blemishes - we pretty much dominated the game overall.
Dont forget - in the first half we should have scored 1 or 2 goals from the goalmouth scrambles.
They can´t handle Drogba at all can they?!! He was on fire and caused them all sorts of problems. His first goal was a thumper and his second a bit scrappy but almost had a hatrick near the end.
Grant got it right with the switch to 4-4-2 - I´ve been saying we should try this for ages now. Anelka and Drogba,in just a few short minutes showed that defences are going to panic against them.
Don´t understand why some of the Woolwich fans are saying his first was offside - he wasn´t offside but they like their manager are notorious bad losers. They bleat on about class and tradition but its just trotted out phrases to make them feel better - we and many other teams fans KNOW what they are like. MEW! MEW! MEW! They don´t stop mewing away.
I´d like to think that karma and shaudenfraude gave them some payback yesterday. Football was the winner yesterday.

Even if he were for arguments sake - it goes some way for making up for the Wiley inspired victory at the Camel Dome; first, Gallas pushed Taql Haim for their goal (whilst the knobbled Terry was off) and they should have been down to 9 men in the first half alone.

One thing I have to remark is Terry playing a Jonny Wilkinson special into the corner and the Chelsea players charging up after we put the ball out for Joe Cole in horrific agony but luckily it was Easter Sunday so he rose again quickly. real classy from Terry...i see Capello made a note..good man...you did better then the press..
As for jeering Gallas, im surprised the tea lady was'nt getting it as ye seemed to boo everyone anyway.

Believe it or not, using a target man and switching formation IS PART OF THE GAME. Wenger doesn´t have a plan B which is part of your problem BUT you lot act like any style of play that isn´t passing the ball around on the ground endlessly, going round in circles is some kind of crime! Quite pathetic!

2. My point was the report said you switched to 4-4-2 when Chelsea reverted to type and used the Drogba long ball as a tactic...the only one you can ever use to beat Arsenal...
3. Any comment on Terry's reply to our fair play!??....I did'nt think so...

As for Terry kicking the ball out to the touchline rather than the goal line, that was strange and unlike him - I wouldn´t be surprised if he mis-kicked it.
Reverted to type? We played 4-4-2 last season but are you saying "type" is an unfair tactic? Are you saying we shouldn´t switch to 4-4-2 as thats unfair on Arsenal? If not, then what is your point?
And you have a short memory, not so long ago you were using Adebayor as a target man with long passes or chips up to him ....or did you forget about that? Was that "fair" on the other teams then? LOL!

Anyone who was at the game saw it, anyone who watched it on the box saw it and all the journos in their reports saw it! You are off your rocker!
Belletti came on at rb pushing Essien into midfield - now 4 in midfield, then Anelka went alongside Drogba - 2 up front.

Oh and Eboue should have got a red in the first half - a yellow for running from the wall and then a deliberate handball when tussling with Makelele which the ref penalised Makelele for!

4-4-2 implies a style of play....
if we want to get down an' dirty.....Cole should'nt have even played after his actions v Spurs....well Mascherano payed the price for it.

It´s Chelsea´s fault that Mascherano got sent off?!!!! I´ve heard it all now! Mascherano got sent off because he was on a yellow, then twice had a big go at the ref afterwards, then ran 25 yards to have another go. Anyway, its hypocrosiy - all the anti-Chelsea bandwagon were saying that you should be punished if you dont respect refs and then the same ones moan when their player gets punished for doing it! What we have here is the desire of one rule for Chelsea and another for the rest. THEY GOT WHAT THEY WANTED.
As for Eboue he committed a 2nd yellow card offence (deliberate handball to obtain an advantage) - if he´d of been wearing a blue shirt you would have all been up in arms about it!

Eboue for a start - he should have gone in the first half.
Terry headed across goal, Alumina tipped the ball off for a corner - yet a goal-kick was given.
Terry ran back from attack and dispossessed Hleb (Hleb didn´t see him coming from behind) yet Hleb kicked Terry´s foot as Terry got the ball so it was a fre´-kick on the edge of the box to us - yet Arsenal got the free-kick.
And lets be honest, after all the help you had of Wiley at the Emirates why complain?

Terry should have been carded for he unsporting behaviour after we knocked the ball out....now that was sneaky...ah well karma got him as Rio is now the guv'nor of the national team
Eboue can't kick a ball now without being send off according to opposition fans....you'd do well to remember Essiens reputation preceding him for a while after the Liverpool debacle.
Seriously you have to acknowledge the Cole effect on the match at Old Trafford....Mascherano was a supreme idiot but Coles actions led to refs implementing this new found "respect" rule...he was made a example for Cole actions in the Spurs match...you mention hypocrisy....why is Cole not suspended so?

Formation is formation. 4-4-2 happened once Ballack and Maka left the field - Essien into midfield and the two subs made the difference and Grant got lucky as I said like a L Driver passing their test. I hope he has broken his 'duck' and continues and we go on to win a trophy that I said when Jose left 'would be a miracle.'
4-4-2 is a formation - not an indication of a style of play.
BTW have you noticed Perry that since Adebayor changed his hair he aint scored HAHAHAHA!!
