Gillingham welcome Tranmere Rovers to the krbs Priestfield Stadium this Saturday in a game that Gillingham will be hoping to get their first win of the new season. In The Gills' previous two fixtures, three players have been sent off, one penalty has been missed, no goals have been scored and four goals have been conceeded.

 

1.     What is Your Name, Age and for how long have you supported Tranmere?

I am Mike Jackson (aka Deadly Submarine) and I have been supporting Rovers since the age of 10 in 1990 so you can work my age out for yourselves!

 

2.     Best Moment Supporting Tranmere?

The 2000 League Cup Final at Wembley against Leicester City although we lost 2-1 in the end.  Also confirming our League One status away at MK Dons two seasons ago was pretty amazing!

 

3.     Worst Moment Supporting Tranmere?

I wasn’t a regular at Tranmere games in our relegation season in 2001 due to being at University so although that was pretty devastating as a Fan, I’d have to say the play-off defeat to Hartlepool in 2005 was my worst personal moment.

 

4.     Who is Your All-Time Favourite Tranmere Player?

For me no-one beats Johnny Morrissey who was a great Winger back in the late 80’s and early 90’s.  Other favourites include Clint Hill and of course the legend that is John Aldridge!

 

5.     Who would you say is Tranmere’s “One to Watch”?

Chris Greenacre is the man who gets the goals for us and in Danny Coyne we have one of the better League One Keepers this season but if I had to choose One to Watch I would say that winger Steve Davies is looking our most dangerous player at the moment.

 

6.     Do you have any Youngsters to look out for?

Plenty if this pre-season has been anything to go by.  In particular our teenage Striker Craig Curran who netted a hat-trick on the final day of last season in his first ever start for the Club.  He has also netted three more goals in pre-season.

 

7.     What Do You Fear Could Go Wrong This Season?

I fear the Squad may be too small at 23 professionals so if injuries and/or suspensions kick in we could be looking at a lower half finish as the worst case scenario.

 

8.     Which Player would you personally Pay to Leave the Club?

I’ll get slated by my own Members if I say Calvin Zola so I’ll plump for Carl Tremarco who hasn’t done much to impress me in his Rovers career so far.

 

9.     Is Ronnie Moore the Right Man for the Job?

After the improvements he made last season turning an almost relegated team into a team who missed out on the play-offs by not too big a margin, I think he is the right man for the job and given time he will be the hero for us.

 

10.  Which Team Do You Most Want to Beat This Season?

The Oldham rivalry seems to drag on these days due to the Ronnie Moore connection but I think most of our fans would go for Leeds United especially after Saturday’s game and they would be closely followed by Forest.

 

11.  Most Detested Opposition Player?

Our former player Sean Thornton (now of Leyton Orient) for reasons that every Rovers fan can relate too.  After Saturday I would also say Jermaine Beckford of Leeds, he’s a dirty player to say the least as is Julian Bennett of Forest.

 

12.  Most Admired Opposition Player?

A difficult one but Kris Commons is a Player who has been very good in this League in recent years.

 

13.  Where Do You See Tranmere Finishing This Season?

I think if the squad size proves sufficient then we will mount a play-off challenge this season so I’ll go for 5th place.

          

 

14.  Do you think either of Gillingham or Tranmere will get relegated/promoted this season?

A lot of people seem to be tipping Gillingham to go down but I’m not so sure.  They certainly seem to have made a fair number of signings including our former striker Delroy Facey.  As for Tranmere I don’t think we will go down (famous last words) but I can see us pushing for the play-offs maybe but given our play-off record that doesn’t mean promotion by any stretch of the imagination.

 

15.  Finally, your prediction for today’s game?

Both teams go in on the back of a defeat and although we played well enough at times against Leeds I don’t think we are going to win this one.  I’m going for a 1-1 draw – Facey to score for Gills.
