Last week I reported that Chelsea Ladies were involved in a relegation/promotion play-off against Liverpool Ladies FC over two legs and the Chelsea Ladies came away from Liverpool last Sunday with a 1-1 draw.

All that was needed at Cobham yesterday, Chelsea's Training Complex, was for Chelsea's Ladies to keep a clean-sheet (which hasn't happened too much this season) and they would retain their place in the Nationwide Women's Premier League (in their first seasonin the top flight).

Well the girls did more than that and better. They beat the Ladies from Liverpool 3-0 to win the two-legged tie 4-1 overall and retain their standing in the Premier League, despite finishing bottom.

Goals from the erotically named Nicky De La Salle, Laura Cooper and Nina Downham saw the Chelsea Ladies home and to fight another season, next year in what maybe an expanded twelve team division.

The game at Cobham was attended by the Ladies England coach, Hope Powell and to show that the name of Chelsea is spreading everywhere, Chelsea Ladies FC last season was the first season as part of the Chelsea FC name.
