During Jose's pre-match press conference he insisted that his starting eleven got off to a flying start in last night's Champions League group clash with Anderlecht in Belgium.

And a fast start they got off to as well. Within fifteen minutes, goals from Crespo and Ricardo Carvalho saw Chelsea 2-0 up and for the remaining seventy-five minutes comfortable as a good night's sleep. In fact Chelsea were so comfortable their style was of a training match, a kick in the park. In footballing circles it is said that there is no such thing as an 'easy game.' Chelsea's performance put paid to that theory. Were Chelsea that good? Or were Anderlecht that bad?

Anderlecht haven't scored a goal in this year's CL competition and have not taken a point. In fact Anderlecht haven't taken in point in twelve CL games that they have participated in. A certain fall from grace, considering there once feared European reputation.

Prior to Chelsea going one-up in the eighth minute, Mpenza missed a glorious chance to make a name for himself and score Anderlecht's first competition goal. From the resulting goal-kick, Chelsea broke down their left and a Lampard cross saw 'Hello, Hello Hernan Crespo' volley in the openng goal. Seven minutes later from a Lampard corner, Carvalho swivelled and volleyed in his CL goal of the season.

From this point on it was a question of how many Chelsea would score?

With this win, Chelsea finally qualified for the knockout stage along with Liverpool. In two weeks time the game decides the winner of the Group.

Jose said after the match 'that finishing 1st or 2nd doesn't concern him.'
