Wins for the BIG Three

The Premiership season finally got under way this weekend with the BIG three all returning with wins. Man Utd won at Everton 2-0 in the first game of the weekend, with goals from Nistelrooy and Rooney.

Arsenal defeated Newcastle Utd at Highbury with a couple of decisions helping them on the way.

Firstly a harsh red card for Jermaine Jenas, when he clearly played the ball and a late penalty award after Ljungberg was felled by N'Zogbia, when TV replays clearly showed that Ljungberg had kicked the ground first.

Chelsea however were more fortunate of the three with a sensational strike by Hernan Crespo deep deep into injury time in the last game of the weekend.

Elsewhere it was raining goals at Villa Park where Villa and Bolton shared a 2-2 draw. All the goals coming in the first nine minutes. West Ham beat Blackburn 3-1 after being a goal down at half-time. Charlton recorded the same score at newly promoted Sunderland despite having debutant Darren Ambrose sent off for a cruel two footed challenge.

Tottenham began their campaign with a 2-0 win at Portsmouth with Jermaine Defoe grabbing the second. All of the other games: Fulham and Birmingham, Middlesbrough and Liverpool, Man City and West Brom all ended goalless.

Other Premiership sending offs were Blackburn's Paul Dickov at West Ham and 'Boro's Ugo Ehiogu against Liverpool.
