Anthony Grant made a fine impression as did Del Horno who found himself with three or four chances going begging. Carlo pulled off a fine save, Duff was his normal self casuing mayhem down the left and Eider looks so comfortable in his new found role in midfield.

The second half saw ten changes including Cech, Gallas, Robben, Lampard and it was Robben who scored Chelsea's third after Wycombe had scored two minutes earlier to make the score 2-1 and then begin the Jari Jarosik show. Playing in an unfamiliar Makelele role, Jari managed to venture forward at every available opportunity and score twice, one from a right foot shot which arrowed across the 'keeper into the bottom corner and his second came after he beat two defenders in the penalty area and drilled another right foot shot just inside the right hand post. These strikes were Jarosik's first goals for Chelsea.

Fair play to Wycombe. They tried to play football, they ignored the easy option of trying to kick their millionaire opponents into touch as would their groundsharers of Rugby Union, Wasps would more likely do, and credit must go to manager John Gorman for his coaching and tactics. Also credit must go to the home support who showed their appreciation of the Champions at the beginning of the match, as the Premiership trophy was paraded and at the end of the match as the two teams left the field.

This is the only 'friendly' that Chelsea play in the UK before the Community Shield against Arsenal next month. Next up is a friendly against the Portuguese champions Benfica on Sunday and then Chelsea fly off to the USA to play a three match tour. At the moment, fixtures are against AC Milan twice and DC United. The tour fixtures have been changing quite regularly so we shall endeavour to keep you up to date as best we can as changes are announced.
