What a day at the office. Chelsea thump the Baggies 4-1 at The Hawthorns. The 'Arse' manage to scrape a draw against lowly Southampton. Man 'Ure' lose again 2-0 at the Pompey. PLAY UP Pompey. Boing, Boing, Boing, Boing!
In a match that had all of the potential of a banana skin, Chelsea thumped the Baggies at The Hawthorns with goals from Gallas (right on the stroke of half-time) and second half goals from Eidersson, Frankie Boy and the Duffman. Credit to WBA. They came out at Chelsea right from the kickoff and caused the Blues problems until the West Londoners quality, craft and style began to shine through. JM introduced one half of the Batman and Robin partnership in the form of Robben and from the moment Chelsea went 2-0 six minutes into the 2nd half, Chelsea never looked back.
From his first touch until the final whistle Robben caused the Baggies defence all sorts of problems with his pacy runs, probing crosses and shots on goal. Holt the WBA 'keeper had more of a busy time in the 2nd half, once the starring Robben took to the field. Although WBA managed to pull one back to make it 2-1 through Zoltan Gera, Chelsea were never in trouble and it only took a few minutes to the advantage back to two goals when Super Frankie Lampard started the move which led to Chelsea's third, from the edge of his own penalty area, and continued to run thru the middle before laying the ball to Duffman, incidently who was on the right to score the third. To round up a great day at the office for the Blues, Super Frank scored the fourth with about nine minutes to go.
With Man Ure losing and The Arse scrapping out a point against Southampton, and missing a penalty to boot - Chelsea are so much and definitely in the hunt for the title, with 26 points from 11 games - The same as The Arse. The only reason why Chelsea are not sitting pretty at the top of the Premiership tonight is purely down to goal difference. Only a few weeks ago they were 20 goals behind The Arse but with 8 goals in the last two league games the difference is now 6. Fifty years of hurt............
