Chelsea got back to Premiership action with a 2-1 win over South London boys Charlton at The Bridge. For Chelsea's first-half performance alone they played like true champions that they are... oops sorry DOUBLE Champions. Had the half-time score been nearer three or four nil instead of one, I doubt Charlton would have had too many complaints.

The Drog could have claimed a hat-trick, Ballack could have had a couple and The Shev for all his running off the ball should have scored with a header from a pin-point Wayne Bridge cross. Wayne Bridge started ahead of new signing Ashley Cole who when he appeared as a second-half substitute received a far better ovation than I though he would.

Jimmy Floyd apologetically scored an equaliser for Charlton and after he said "I hope Chelsea fans understand that I have a job to do for Charlton," you also had a job to do for Middlesbrough too Jimmy! Of course we understand thats why you were applauded after the goal went in.

Parity lasted only a few minutes as Rickity Rick powerfully headed in the winner from a Frank Lampard penalty. Later on from a soft and harsh penalty award, Super Frank saw his effort saved by on-loan Scott Carson.

Charlton had a second equaliser denied when ref Alan Wiley judged that Marcus Bent had handled the ball before turning and firing into the bottom corner. TV replays suggest that Bent and Charlton were very unlucky.
