Grant did well during his short time at the club but perhaps doesn´t have what it takes to manage a club playing at our level to it´s full capacity.

It doesn´t appear that he will move upstairs as Director of Football either - a position that the club insisted was necessary last summer. To my mind this may mean the new replacement has ALREADY been earmarked.

So now the speculation can begin on our next manager – Mancini, Rijkaard, Spaletti, Laudrup, Bilic, Hiddink, Eriksson……or Mourinho!

twas only a matter of time. The guys was dull, emotionless and just shockingly boring, and imo tactically poor not to mention the all the rambling pointless interviews. Did ok to get into 3 2nd places but cant say he will be missed by many, if any.

Hi , whilst I am sorry about Avrim Grant,s departure I have called for him to go several times during the past season . He did far better than I imagined he would, but in this hard headed football business it is all about throphies and results . What we need now is stability, changing your manager more often than your car is a recipe for disaster. We need a young enthusiastic manager with radical ideas and most of all an ability to manage the egos of the millionaires whom form the playing staff. Whether you would be allowed to manage the way would like is I,m afraid at the discretion of the owner, but if Chelsea have learned anything from this past four seasons is that interference from above is detrimental to the performance on the pitch.

Good post!

You know, I wouldn´t mind taking a chance on Laudrup.

He would have the respect of the squad becuae he´s been and done it all, he´s young with fresh idea, Getafe played some nice attacking football and he did incredibly well with them with virtually no budget.

The other thing is that Grant´s sharp exit could have a lot to do with stopping players leaving in the summer.

He did surprise us Shelfside...

BUT it was a case of "almost" and not the win.

He also made some crucial mistakes at times.

Chelski is the laughing stock of England. The firing of Grant make no sense at all.

Maybe Robert Maxwell will invite Abramovich for a boat ride!

UP THE RAMS!

Didn´t Maxwell try to own both yourselves and Oxford United at one point?

It deserved one full season as an manager

Very bad....just no confidence in managers.

Grant got three second places, beat Man Utd, ensure the premiership is decided on after the last game

He was a great coach, it might not be visible.....but he did a great job

Didn't take Chelsea long did it? Which makes me think the decision had already been made even before the CL final.

The worse kept secret in football!!! LOL LOL

I actually feel sorry for Grant as prev posters have said CL Runners-up, PL runners-up, and CC runners-up.

Have Chelsea set a precedent for themselves now? Sack a manager who won trophies and then sack a manager who didn't win a trophy without him having a full year. (4 year contract my a&&s).

On that basis the next manager who comes in is already a 'dead man walking!!!!'

I have great respect for Grant, i thought he handled himself well and did a good job, what surprises me is it is a straight sacking, after he signed a four year contract this seems odd, why did he not just move back upstairs?

i think it must be because the new (potential) manager has said it's his way and he doesn't want grant, which makes me think it'll be Mourinho.

He's struggled to find a top club, he has apparently had several 'chats' with RA recently...

Rumours are he is coming back...

the special one anyone?

I reckon the 4 year contract was a present from Roman to Grant - a guaranteed pay off even though he was always only probably be a stop gap.

Mourinho? Exactly my feeling Turkish although I wonder if he´s going to to be the one AFTER this next one?

Would love to see him back where he belongs.

Apart from the friendly chats between Jose and Roman there´s also the matter of the players currently being pursued - Bosingwa was origonally signed by Mourinho for Porto and Robinho is a player Mourinho once described as "liquid gold"....

Article coming up on this...!
