22nd : Dagenham preparing for another battle
By Nathan Jackson
July 14 2008
Dagenham and Redbridge are one of the worst sides I have seen for a long time. It's a team with only one half decent outfield player and a general lack of enthusiasm amongst the rest of the players, not a great combination if you're looking to avoid another battle against relegation.

WHO ARE DAGENHAM AND REDBRIDGE?

WHO IS JOHN STILL?

 LAST SEASON'S VIDEO

WHERE DO YOU THINK YOU'RE GOING?

Dagenham and Redbridge were quite frankly the worst side I have seen for many years in their two games against the Imps last season. Despite their fan's claims at the beginning of the season, they struggled all season long but you'd never have guessed that if you believed what their fans claimed throughout the season. Their fans claimed that they absolutely dominated most games, that despite every other fan in the division saying that they were the worst side they had seen in a long time.

A prime example of them seeing a different game to everyone else came in our game at their ground. They claimed they dominated the game and hit the woodwork twice. Now, even the official stats back me up when I say that they didn't hit the woodwork, they didn't even come close....but apparently hitting the ball 2 feet wide of the post is the same as hitting the post.

The Daggers struggled to adapt to League football. Much like most of the other teams coming up from the BS Premier, they seemed to think that them beating small, insignificant clubs, who play in front of crowds of 200 meant that they could easily cope at League Two level. They never seemed to realise that there are no weak sides in League Two and that certainly cost them early on. This isn't the Conference where half the teams seemingly struggle to get past the 30 point mark, there are no tinpot clubs in League Two.

Infact, if it hadn't been for a five game winning run towards the end of the season, they would have almost certainly have gone down and now that Wrexham and Mansfield have gone down, Dagenham and now well and truly trenched into that group of teams referred to as "THE DROSS OF LEAGUE 2" They are in that group with Accrington Stanley and Chester City.

As mentioned above, I think they were the worst side I saw last season. Every other side seemed to have at least one measly piece of play that you were impressed with, the urgency to play or even just the occasional pass that cut through a defence...Dagenham had none of those. The good thing about Dagenham's ground is that you can see the expression on their player's face, they often looked completely uninterested and even a narrow miss was greeted with a seeming feeling of ambivalence.

In my opinion, Dagenham only have one decent player and that is Peter Gain. He is still capable off being the best midfielder in this division and certainly miles better than anything Dagenham have already got. He is the reason I am predicting Dagenham won't get relegated, he is the one semblance of hope that they seem to have and their stay in the League could be on his shoulders. He didn't play in the game at Sincil Bank last season, but he would have could have easily have run rings around the worst defence in recent memory at Sincil Bank.

I still think they are one of the worst sides in the division, but I think that they will survive the drop due to the points deduction that Luton have suffered, and that they appear to be jammy gits. You get a feeling that they could potentially do "a Macclesfield" and stay in this division despite being consistently crap.

OTHER PREDICTIONS SO FAR

23RD - ACCRINGTON STANLEY

24TH - LUTON TOWN

A thoroughly miserable place to visit. May think twice about going this year - and I only live down the road.

Just found these responce on a Conference Forum. There was a thread basically criticising what I've said about Conference sides.....I would take their opinions seriously if it wasn't for them slightly twisting the truth, for example

"Thats the chap. He is a Man utd fan who started supporting Lincoln when they kept getting in the playoffs (5 years of consecutive misery). But he's not a glory hunter"

Can someone point out to myself how I am a glory supporter with Lincoln considering that I started going when we were battling relegation on a fairly regular basis?
