As all Pools fans wait on the news of who will replace Paul Stevenson in the Pools hotseat not many names have been thrown around. Could we be in for another Hodcroft surprise? One of the origional favourites for the job was Chris Turner. Turner is no stranger to the club and after having 3 1/2 successful season with Hartlepool, taking us to the brink of promotion, left to join his home town club of Sheffield Wednesday. His job at Sheffield was basic; sell who can and do the best you can with what was left. Whilst at Sheffield he suffered one relegation and a mid-table finish. In 2004/05 he was sacked from Sheffield and replaced by Paul Sturrock who took them on to promotion.
After Sheffield, Turner was in charge of Stockport County. At county he had the same problem he had at Sheffield: no money and he had to sell some of his better players. This took County down to League 2 and after another unsuccessful season he finally left.
At present he is the Hartlepool United Director of Sport and at the end of last season was Stevo's no.2

Another favourite for the job is Danny Wilson. He started his managerial career off the Barnsley where he spent 4 years and took them up to the Premiership. After Barnsley he took over at Sheffield Wednesday. His first season in charge saw Sheffield finish 11th but during his second season in charge he was gone by March and Sheffield were relegated.
After Sheffield he took the helm at Bristol City. His first season in charge saw Bristol finish mid-table but the next season Bristol finished just 1 place outside of the play-offs. His next season saw Bristol miss out on automatic promotion by 3 points and they suffered a defeat to Cardiff (1-0 on aggregate) in the playoff semi final. Nest season saw Bristol miss out on automatic promotion by 1 point. The beat Hartlepool 3-2 on aggregate in the playoff semi (thanks to two lucky last minute goals) but they lost 2-0 to Brighton at Cardiff. Due to Wilson not taking Bristol C to promotion he was sacked and replaces by Brian Tinnion.

Another name mentioned for the job is Colin West. West was Turners no.2 at Hartlepool, Sheffield and at Stockport but has no actual managerial experience. And another favourite for the job is former Spurs man Graeme Roberts

Some people might say that the manager doesnt make that much difference it is up to the players. Believe me you need a good man in charge or the players will suffer.
