It may only be the Johnstone Paints Northern Trophy but another win on the road against higher league opposition is just what we needed after the heroics of Mansfield.

James Poole got the only goal in the first half when he volleyed home from 12 yards after a throw in from Holden. 

Pools had the better of the chances in both halves with Neil Austin in at centre back in place of Sam Collins with Darren Holden coming in at left-back and Bradley Walker [left] returning to the midfield.

James and Poole didn't give the home defence a minute's peace all night while Flinders[ right] was rarely troubled.

It bodes well and a decent return from the long trip to Exeter would be even more confirmation that the corner has been well and truly turned.
