Who would have put money on goal-shy Pools scoring four at team of the moment Mansfield Town? Nobody I know - unfortunately.

The goals were of the highest quality so surely this must be the confidence booster we've all been waiting for?

We will find out after two more tricky away trips to Sheffield United on Tuesday and Exeter on Saturday - so let's not get too carried away.

Until then we can bathe in the comfort of an excdellent display at Mansfield who had no answer to a team which got the ball down and played football.

Monky paved the way with a belter from 25 yards after seven mins followed by another from Jack Compton just before the break. He'd cut in from the right before slotting home with his favourfed left.

Compton added the third just after the break with a superb free kick form five yards outside the box after the lively James Poole had been foul ed.

Poole got the fourth after 80 minutes - again a left footer. Mansfield had made it 3-1 after Sam Collins had handled in the box.

The only way is up.
