Pools throw away top tie

It was always going to happen. Hartlepool lost in controversial circumstances to the team bottom of the league and now Macclesfield have been drawn against one of the top sides in the country

It was guarenteed to happen. We went out of the cup in controversial circumstances and then the team that beat us draws one of the biggest clubs in the country. Macclesfield Town have been drawn against Chelsea.

Hartlepool lost at Moss Rose in slightly controversial circumstances after Tony Sweeney was sent off in the first half for deliberate handball. No doubt it was a penalty but a sending off seemed harsh as it appeared that Tony Sweeney was blocking his face as the ball travelled towards him
