Here we go again then! Season 2006/7 approaches, and very soon the talking and speculation will stop and the action will start. How will Hartlepool United and the other teams vying for position in League 2 fare? Pools Online's traditional Season Preview starts here.

the 2005/6 season is almost upon us, and that means it's time for sites like this to start looking ahead and - inevitably - start making predictions. 24 teams are getting ready with differing degrees of hope and expectation; for some the Summer has been quiet, for others busy; for some has come new hope, for others disquiet.

No doubt fans of other clubs will be reading these pages over the coming days and thinking that I've got the prediction for their team completely wrong; well, maybe I have, but if every team matched the expectations of it's fans no-one would ever be relegated and at least 15 teams would expect to be in the playoffs each year. There's a saying about no plan of battle ever surviving contact with the enemy, and for many clubs so it will prove. The hard part is trying to work out who has a serious chance of performing, and any number of Bookmakers can tell you how difficult that can be as they count their profits.

Starting today and continuing throughout the next week, a block of four teams will be previewed each day. As normal, they will be in Alphabetical Order except for Pools, who will be the final team previewed. That final day's preview will also include a summary table of who I think will finish where.
