Town are being linked with a big money move for Cardiff City striker Michael Chopra, if Cardiff fail to get promoted to the Premier League. The 26-year-old has scored 19 goals in all competitions this season and is one of a number of players that could be forced to leave Cardiff to ease the Bluebirds financial problems with a £3 million price tag being touted by various sources.

Chopra started his career at Newcastle United but never made an impact on the first team, scoring just 3 goals in 31 appearances, he was loaned to Watford for part of the 2002/2003 season and scored 5 goals in 4 starts and 1 sub appearance for the Hornets. The following season he spent a month at Nottingham Forest where he failed to find the net once, in August 2004 he joined Barnsley on-loan for the season and scored 17 goals in 42 games, he returned to Newcastle at the end of loan spell but still couldn't find a way into the first team at St James' Park.

In June 2006 Chopra moved to Cardiff for less then £500,000, he scored 22 goals in 44 games before being snapped up, by now Town manager Roy Keane who was at Sunderland for £5 million. In the two years at Sunderland he scored just 8 goals and was loaned and then sold back to Cardiff and he since scored 28 goals in 63 appearances.
