Telford was a ground I had wanted to visit for quite some time and I finally got the chance in the FA Cup in 2009. The Imps drew Telford in the first round that season and despite a few issues, it was a half decent day out and it was a better ground than some at League level.

When the draw for the 1st Round of the FA Cup was made, I was pleased with our potential opponents. We would face either Blyth Spartans or AFC Telford , two clubs I had a soft spot for, not entirely sure why but I did. Telford got through with a quite convincing 4-0 win at Blyth. This would mean City's first ever game against AFC Telford , who had formed from the ashes of the old Telford United, whom City had faced in the LDV Vans Trophy in 2003, winning 3-1.

Setting on from Lincoln saw a relatively simple drive that takes around 3 hours, leaving plenty of time to get some lunch from the pub. The ground is a bit into Telford and from the journey in seemed to reveal that there wasn't a lot to do in Telford. There also appeared to be no parking at the ground and everyone was parking in a nearby building (possibly a council building). From there it was a 3/4 minute walk to the stadium.

Arriving in the ground was quite different from most other grounds in the country. It's a true mish-mash of grounds with three very different styles of stand.

The away end, much like it's opposite number, was a terrace that wasn't overly large, but as you can see from the above picture, you get an excellent view of what action is happening at your end of the pitch. The view down to the other end of the pitch was also reasonable.

To our left was the only seated stand in the ground and it was actually quite nice. It's not too dissimilar to the seated area at Burton. There was an extremely small section for away fans, although they didn't actually bother telling away fans this, meaning that only those who organised the fan coaches knew about this section.

The final stand to the right is quite unique in it's style. A pitch length, although tiny, terrace had a building built into the stand. Other than the changing rooms, it is unclear exactly what this building was used for from inside the ground.

Overall it made for quite a unique ground to be in, although the stand to the right did make the ground look a bit untidy.

The atmosphere was a bit poor to be fair and only really picked up when Telford equalised midway through the second half, even then there didn't seem to be many joining in with the chanting. I thought this might have just been a one off but then  for my second visit, the Telford fans started loud but were near enough silent after five minutes.
