Drewe Broughton initially joined the Imps on loan from Rotherham in February 2010 and after impressing Chris Sutton, his signing was made permanent at the end of the 2009/10 season. He is a journeyman of the lower leagues and has never been the most prolific striker in the division.

Drewe Broughton was always a handful against the Imps and had on occasions seen red whilst facing City. His target-man like stature makes him awkward for defenders, his flailing elbows even more so, and his impact was never more symbolised than when the Imps travelled to Rushden in 2005.

Rushden had taken an early lead through Billy Sharp before Simon Yeo had equalised. Rushden were dominating the game and then at a corner, Broughton decided to elbow Gareth McAuley, received his red card and the Imps scored three times in the next seven minutes.

The Imps are yet another club in a long line of clubs that Broughton has played for, hopefully he will be as prolific for us as he was for both Kidderminster and Southend, both of whom he averaged better than a goal ever three games for.

Broughton did initially join the Imps during Chris Sutton's "trial and error" method of bringing strikers to this club and although he didn't score, Sutton was impressed enough to bring the striker in permanently after he was released by Rotherham.

He links up with the Imps for the 2010/11 season and will face a fair number of his old clubs in the upcoming season, Rotherham, Wycombe, Southend and Stevenage.

He is a poor player in my opinion, an opinion that facts support.

He's the 'Uncle Albert' of relegation....

not a scorer in his own right but may be a good foil for a smaller striker, we seemed to be a little more savvy when he played last season

I didn't see Broughton play last season, so I cannot have a personal opinion.

However, Sutton did.

Given that he has some pedigreee as a Striker, the fact that he chose to sign him says something.

It says that in one month working with Broughton he felt he was better than,

I can't argue against that assessment, but more importantly, it says that Sutton felt that Broughton could offer something of worth to the Lincoln squad for 2010/11.

I'm prepared to go with that until Christmas.

It could also suggest he can't get anyone else in.

This is also the same Broughton that didn't score and was part of a team that almost went down..

Too be fair to Broughton didnt we see an upturn in form when he came in, and when he left we had a downturn in form??
