Striker : Chris Fagan

By Nathan Jackson
December 31 2009

Chris Fagan joined the Imps in the summer of 2009 as Peter Jackson looked to fill his depleted frontline, most of whom had left during the summer. Although he started the season reasonably well with three goals before mid-September, he has struggled to be consistent in front of goal and looks far from ready for League football.

Signed From : Free Transfer

Debut : Lincoln City 1 Barnet 0 : 8th August 2009

Chris Fagan become the first player to sign for a professional club from the Glenn Hoddle academy when he joined the Imps. He had previously been with Manchester United and had a reasonable scoring record for their reserves before being released. After a successful year in Spain, he joined City.ChrisFagan

He wasn't exactly free scoring in pre-season, although he did score two beauties against Boston United and Arsenal respectively. However, his scarce goalscoring record continued into the League before he scored his first professional goal against Bradford. Two weeks later and Peter Jackson left, followed by Fagan scoring twice in the two games following that, including another beauty against Bournemouth.

The goals dried up again though and at the current time of writing (December 31st 2009), he hasn't scored in the League since that game at Bournemouth, nearly four months ago. He did score the opener in the FA Cup Second Round at Northwich which a neat volley inside the area.

It looks likely that Fagan won't be at the club beyond the end of his current contract as he now struggles to get into the first team. He does have potential but is a scorer of great goals, rather than a great scorer of goals, however, he won't cope at League Two level until he learns you can't afford to have as much time on the ball as you get higher up in the League.
