Lee Frecklington was arguably the most exciting prospect to come out of the club's youth system this decade. Becoming a first team regular in 2006, Frecklington quickly showed his potential before moving onto Peterborough United last February.

Frecklington was arguably the best product of the Lincoln City youth academy since Darren Huckerby and has seemingly come out of no-where to be a first team regular. Frecklington made his debut in the LDV Vans Trophy competition in the 2003/4 season and he had a steady game and he also helped the Imps progress in the next round with a 4-3 win after extra time against Chesterfield.

His 2004/5 season saw him have a 100% losing record as he came on as a substitute against Rochdale, Cheltenham and Yeovil, 3 games that the Imps lost but the potential was definitely still there. In 2005/6, he didn't even make the bench until a home game with Barnet in January where he made a surprise appearance as a sub and he then became a regular fixture, coming off from the bench and just 3 weeks after that game against Barnet, he scored his first goal for the Imps in the 3-2 away win at Stockport.

His season continued and his reputation not only increased, but made a lot of non-Imps' fans take notice and he scored one of the best goals of the season against Bury with an effort from around 25 yards out that saved the Imps after an embarrassing performance.

Freck's brilliant form continued and he went on to score stunning goal after stunning goal and this saw him linked with moves away from Sincil Bank. He was mostly been linked with Leeds United but thankfully Freck has admitted at the time that he would only leave for a side who were either in the Championship, or heading that way.

However, his form went a bit off and he wasn't nearly as impactful under Peter Jackson, the "Lord of the Hype" not rating Freck and even dropped him. Peterborough tried to secure his services but were twice denied in 2008, but Frecklington did eventually leave for London Road in February 2009, join on a loan move that became permanent the following summer.

He ended his City career by scoring in the final minute of his final game, a 95th minute equaliser in a thrilling game with Bournemouth.

Very good player and the inability of Jackson to get the best out of him shows how poor a manager he was. Had a decent turn of pace over 5-10 yards which all decent pro's do.

Not sure if it was true or not but heard he couldn't wait to get out of the club. Again, I heard he was disappointed with the lack of support form the higher echions of the club.

Fun thing is that when he was first linked to Peterborough, he said in the newspapers and the radio that he had no interest in going because it was a side-ways move......but as soon as he joined them, it's all apparantly rubbish.....why say it on the radio then?
